What lift to fit 37s?

Been thinking of going up to a 37 when I get new tires.

How much lift is actually needed to fit a 37x12.5x16?

I run 315/75r16 right now, pretty much a 35x12.5x16 and they clear fine with just a leveling kit.

I was figuring around 4" should be tall enough.

Other question, how do most companies do the rear lift? I have a big homemade spring pack (has like 7 leaves) so an add a leaf sure isn't going to do it.

I've got a 4.5" lift on my truck and while I could run 37's, I think they'd rub on some areas. If I was gonna run 37's I'd run a 6" lift but then again I've gotten accustomed to no rubbing at all with my 35's and I won't ever go back to rubbing tires again.

I run 37's with leveling spacers in the front. I also moved the front axle forward 1.25". I also built a new front bumper to clear the tires. No rubbing issues at all. I'm going to put some fiberglass on it next and remove the factory block, and leveling spacer. I just like my trucks as low as I can get them.

Some companies use add-a-leaf, others have the entire spring setup.

I am with you there Lincoln. I only lift as much as I need to fit the tires and that's it.

I take it you made some longer control arms? Did you have to lengthen the front driveshaft as well?

I'm not sure if the trackbar would clear the diff if I pushed the axle forward. As it is now, I don't understand how it doesn't hit. (I have one of the Doug Thuren bars)

BgBlDodge my 35s don't rub with just a levelling kit. It is close and when the tires where new they did rub a little bit on the plastic fender liner, but it wasn't anything I was worried about.

with a 6in lift I had to trim some off the plastics of the front bumper but I have heard of people changing the backspacing with only a leveling kit and fitting 37s and maybe acouple other things

My 35's don't rub at all, bone stock suspension, but there pretty worn.

On a 2nd gen?

:bang the 6" is on my 3rd gen but the other part was 2nd gen one truck had 35" tires with no lift or anything and they barely would rub on the back side of the fender closer to the door where it rivited together on the bottom side, after a leveling kit and different back spacing 37s barley fit and only would rub in the mountains or bumpy roads

How do they not rub? I've never figured this out. 33's on my truck would rub the lower control arms and 35's with a leveling kit rubbed the same spot. I've never figured out why my truck seems to be the only one that rubbed the lower control arms with stock 16x8 polished aluminum rims. I never had a problem with them rubbing on the fenders or plastic liner though. Only time I ever had that problem was when I went with 16x10" aftermarket rims with 4.5" of backspacing on a 2" leveling kit.

He did build his own control arms and no he didn't have to lengthen the front driveline. It's a tow rig for his wheeler but it's seen 4wd use itself and he's real good with the offroad fabrication stuff so I trust him to build some for me next :Cheer:. As far as I remember the track bar wasn't an issue. He took off his front sway bar and it didn't seem to affect the trucks handling in a poor way (I've been in the truck). BUT it can still be relocated and work just fine. He swapped out my 3.54's for 4.10's a few months back and I'm waiting to do the same to my truck :cheer:.

Fill in any mess ups I had Sam!

oh and btw. My truck with a leveling kit. DT pro fab control arms (.5" forward). 325/65/20 tires on 20x10" wheels with a 4.5" backspace doesn't rub.

My truck must be a freak then. Oh well. It don't rub now and that's all that matters.

They were at the time. With 33's and 35's the tires rubbed on the lower control arm.

That's pretty much it. I'll need to build a new track bar though. The track bar hits the diff at full compression now that I gave the truck a little more caster.
I just have to be careful when I'm in "rally" mode. Give me a minute on control arms Jeff... It's been really crazy lately.

no hurry here.. I'm actually thinkin about building some long arms since I'm just about done on these traction bars. Now that I've learned all these tools at work I'm havin some fun :rockwoot:

No clue forrest. I've never fooled with them and I've been through so many power steering boxes it's not even funny. My truck has always had an awesome turning radius.
