What to change for a loose track?

I can't remember the guys name but that is Matt Williams old truck. It was called Ragged out and was a two tone grey and maroon truck last year. I think the new owner is still on a learning curve for driving it. It's bound to be a hand full!

There was some serious trucks there. I would have loved to watch that LIVE.:rockwoot::rockwoot::rockwoot:

Yeah, there is almost always a good showing of trucks at the pulls around here. Usually every weekend in the summer I can drive an hour or less and watch a great pull. There was another pull that night, but it got rained out and this is a covered track that they put together last year, so its a real nice place to pull even if its wet!

Alright, I'll say it, I am tired of getting my ass handed to me on loose tracks. On a tight track I can run with the best 2.8 trucks in the area, but on a loose track I just blow the tires off and can't get it hooked up.

Running 4 BFG AT's on the rear at 35psi, and STS's up front at 20psi, had 1000lbs hanging off the front, and just recently moved my hitch in 10" and I just blow the tires off and scream down the track.

Would running single STS's in the rear be better than dualled up BFG's, maybe it will dig down and find something to grab rather than floating on the top.

Any ideas?

mt claws!!!!

I told my old man the other day he better watch out, if I'm going to a notriously loose track I might have to steal his brand new pro-comp XAT's. they have huge lugs with lots of siping. LOL

I can't run 4 STS on the back because my money tree wont let me, id have to find some 17" rims then buy 4 STS to put on them...not gonna happen. So, I'll be working with the BFG's or single STS and see what I can figure out til I can afford to buy a few sets of tires.

Well, if you arent worried about the driveline, 6 STS's will do it on a loose track.

Here is a video from 2 weekends ago. Its not the worst track I have seen, but it is pretty loose. The truck that got 2nd place(David Dudgeon/Oversize Load) is running 6 STS's and Josh got 4th running STS's. 2 of the trucks that beat him were 2.8 trucks and the 2nd place truck was also a 2.6 truck.

Just to confuse things for you more TJ, the truck that won this pull was a 2.8 truck running 4 BFG's in the back and 2 STS's up frontLOL

Is the guy with the black jack truck on here?

Ahem!! From the master of loose tracks- Lose those DAMN BFG A/Ts, Claws, Mud terrains and Truxus.

Dont argue, just do it.

You need to find a soft all terrain with plenty of SIPES. They dont need to be 15" wide if the materiel and tread is right.

Run them virtually flat.

Strap 200-400 pounds over the rear axle.( need the weight to launch back there.)

Go up a gear, or two.

BLOW the tires loose out of the hole, do not "pedal" ****,bif blow them loose, get upstairs quick, the tires will catch when the sled puts a little weight on you, and you will be gone.
Ideally, you will snuff it at the end.

Proven system boys, try it, or come back and post how bad you still suck next week, on loose tracks!!:soap:

what were those AT's you ran on Sledpuller back in the day. I have a pic on my home computer of the truck and they are just some regular old street tires it looks like. you gonna fill us in on what tire it was? LOL

Is the guy with the black jack truck on here?

Im not sure. I couldnt find his user name on here. His name is Taylor Stivers though, and his user name is BlackJack on Kydtr.com.... He is on facebook, so you might be able to talk to him on there.

I think Gene was a Mickey Thompson fan.

I have been looking at ice tires, they come in 33x12.50 and are nothing but sipes.

cheep too, like 160 bucks

Grab 2nd gear and move a few pounds over the back end.

I wish they still made the Mickey Thompson MTX tire. Looks tame but has crazy biting power on the track.
