What trans oil cooler to go with?

I am wondering what trans cooler to go with. My OE one was ruined in an accident and i put on a hayden one from the local car quest and it just isn't cutting it, i've never seen my trans temps this high. Another OE one my cost is around 280, which isn't that cheap. Will another plate(?) style one work or what do other people run in place of the OE one?

I'm running the B&M super cooler. Stacked plate design works better for cooling than the finned type.
Got it at Jegs for pretty cheap. Mounted it under the truck.

B&M super cooler here as well. Have the big one mounted up front in stock location and a smaller one with fan under the truck.

How well did it mount up front? Do you have any pictures of it? Do you think you would be ok without the smaller one and fan?

Does that second cooler seem to help much?? Do you have before and after temps? I am thinking about adding one but wasn't sure if it would help enough to be worth it.

I think it helps a lot more than the heat exchanger..... I have yet to go past 130* on the temp (sender is in the line heading out of the trans (hottest point).
I ditched the heat exchanger due to the twins and beating on the truck the track and in town stop and go it works out great!

Mounted fine, had to trim the plastic on the bumper a bit but you can't see it with the hood down. I don't run the heat exchanger so that's why I run two, just in case. Honestly I don't think you need one with a fan, mine has never even come on! Never been hot enough, and I live in CA.

I have one like this but a little thinner and no fan and it will see 180 no problem. Is there something that could be causing my trans temps to be so high or do you think the cooler is the real problem?

Are you reading high temps in the pan or in the line? If they're high in the pan, you need more cooler. If they're high in the line, your converter is causing your over heat issues.$.02

Reading them in the middle port of the trans, the one where you test line pressure at idle and stall. The pan temp is almost the same as what that temp is. funny story i actually have run a chicken over on accident, rather funny after it happened, the best part was i was talking to the old lady at the time it happened and she didn't know wtf to think.

Thanks for taking out the yardbird man.:Cheer: If you're getting hot in a port in the case I would say better/more cooler. My preference is a Truecool, though i've never used a B&M to know anything about them.

I have my temp prob in the forward port which I believe was right out of the pump which is a hot spot. Atleast that is what I was told. I am a newby here trying to learn. I just started towing a large fifthwheel toybox that weighs probably about 12-13k fully loaded. I just want to watch my temps to make sure I don't kill my tranny earlier than later. I am moving out to California this winter with it and want to have the truck ready for the long haul. I am thinking about adding a larger pan and install one of those coolers to help on the hills. With my temp prob in the forward port what is the maximum temps I should see or want to see before I should start to worry???

If i remember correctly the furthest forward port only has fluid circulate through it in only first and second where the middle port has it in all forward gears at least.

I am running 2 temp gauges. They read between 40 -50* different.
The hottest is in the line out of the trans, that comes straight out of the TC, and my other gauge is plugged into the middle port.
The most important temp you want to know is the fluid in the pan.
