Ok pulling season is fast upon us and im still trying to my eggs in a row and get my truck the way i want it. Still trying to dial in the p pump on it and get it running how i want it to. Right now its set up to flow 550cc with the plate fully forward. Got it set around 400cc right now. But im gonna be pulling in the 2.6 class this year. Running ddp250s and going to be running a s466 for a turbo. Currently i dont have any headwork...only plan on putting in studs for the time being. Rear end hasnt been touched either....had 10 hooks on it last year and havent broke anything yet, knock on wood. Transfer case has held up so far as well..not sure what came in the 6 speed trucks? And im running a valair 3850 DD. U-joints havent been touched since i got the truck 3 years ago and havent let me down yet. Im just wondering with the extra power this year whats going to break on me or should i be looking at doing to prevent and carnage? Hope to turn atleast 4k going down the track.

Do you have traction bars? if not then the u-joint at the D80 pinion...other than that, I am thinking its either gonna be the output shaft in the 241dld, the spider gears, or the headgasket...its a crap shoot.

Have traction bars and bump stops. So im hoping the u joint holds up

If your lucky the u-joints will hold but the spider gears will fail! That was our problem last year,3 Diffs in 2mts & no u-joint faillure!

What should i be doing to my spider gear to get them to hold up? I literally know nothing when it comes to rear ends and differentials and all that good stuff.

when mine blew up, i bought a new posi unit on ebay to put in the truck and added an extra clutch and steel on each side from the old one that broke. It held for the next 1.5 seasons like that and i never once had a one wheel peel, it was always locked up tight going down the track.

my spider gears gave out on me last year. i think it was from the hoppin though. lol

if you're still driving it every day the tru-trac is a good option, if no towing then maybe the spool is a good option.?? i'm sure some others will chime in.

Its only gonna see the street on the weekend and maybe 1 or2 times during the week. Where can i look at some of these options at?

definitely dont run a spool. run one in my ford and it sucks for daily driving. wears tires out fast and chirps EVERYWHERE.

Lubeowner...im gonna have to get something put in the rear end of my truck. And it sounds like that tru trac would be a pretty good choice. How big of a job is it to get put in? And i already had Jim in mind for a driveshaft after going down there last fall...he said he could get something made up for me.

Im sure the spiders will be the first to go.

I had a dana 70 in my truck and was worried about the pinion shaft, now i have a dana 80 and im worried about the spiders:hehe:

You could just pull the rear end out of the truck and have it welded solid. Then put the Tru-Trac in at a later date. I drove mine around with a fully welded rear end and Klar drives the Foam Truck around with a spool during pulling season. I just swap out those rear ends after the pulling season season. I would suggest the Tru-Trac but if the money is tight I would just weld it. Stop by the shop and I can help you out. I do work for beer after hours.

I guess i would rather not weld the rear end solid just because i do wanna drive it on the street some yet. Im thinking of just getting the true trac and calling it good.

Get it ordered then. I think I have a good use for that carrier that you would be talking out.
