Wheelbase and its effect on pulling

No problem... I will continue running my short bed and bouncing right on by you...:cheer:

J/K all in good fun

Woohoo!!! I guess I will buy stock in ring and pinions. Let me know if you need another 80, I think I will have a spare!! LOL Freakin' pullers from Missouri!
LOL Only thing worse are guys who move from say Indiana to Missouri and still pull!

As far as the half bald tires, their are so many variables to help. Truck length is only one!

You called it right! If I recall the top trucks at the national events this year were from where?
IRP 1 and 2 were from Indiana
SDX 1 and 2 were from Michigan
Platte city 1 and 2 were from? Mi and then Indiana.

There are some great running trucks in Missouri, no question about that, but it just seems there are fewer of them. Pretty much a big gap. Have trucks that are built to the 2.8 rule and then pretty much stockers. I think the northern and easter part of the state are where most of those trucks are at. Not trying to getting in a pissin' match over this there are some great running trucks everywhere you go. Like I said the biggest thing I have seen different out here is the bigger HP trucks are fewer. There are some great trucks though Strothcamp, Hodler, Cole, etc. I imagine there are some more too. Just curious I recognize your truck, where did you place at IRP in '06 or '07?
SDX in '06 or '07

Looks to me like the Michigan trucks are the top dogs.

I run with them guys evey weekend(mine built for the 2.8) an i have out pulled several of them more than once.. No i did not place in IRP or Scheid this year. I was not able to go to IRP and fried a clutch @ Scheids. Ask everyone of those guys they know who i am, the wont look past me same goes for me. They are all strong trucks. Im not saying your wrong Indiana is tuff i was ribbing you thats it... Smile man im joking! You dont want to get into a pissin match because i know US Missouri Boys can out drink anyone and when i drink i piss alot...LOL

The longer wheel base helps ALOT. it keeps me competitive with a lighter truck than most ppl that pull around me. But one day we will have to limit wheel base just like the gas boys do. Flex is needed but can be bad too. Something has to give so you can hook well. I just need to get some ladder bars to stop all my twisting...

Garrett, I don't see how that works at all.

Tom,

Maybe the lack of flex is holding a tire (or two?) "off" the ground. Dips in the track, bumps, ect can change the balance of the weight on the tires. A truck that flexes some will keep more weight on the tire that would be lightened by an absolutely stiff chassis. Similar to a three legged table always flat type idea. Just a thought though. Whadda ya think?

It is all good. I almost went to belleville, or whereever it was. One of the guys I have been pulling with this last fall went and wanted me to go. I just didn't want to make the 3+ hour drive(especially with a different turbo on the truck), when there was one that was nearby that I could hit up for a test and tune. Hopefully things will get straightened out and I can freshed the engine up this year. Somebody came and bought my old charger and mentioned you. He said you live it cole camp, but I forget what he said your name was. Your truck is easy to remember. Not too many burnt orange pullers! That is the right color correct? Maybe an organization can do a mid missouri thing. If it is over 2 hours drive, I pretty much won't go unless it is a big pull!

Burnt orange? Hooked, were you at Owensville this year? I saw a burnt orange truck pull there this year, it looked good, that was the color I wanted when I ordered mine and Dodge told me it wasn't available anymore....

And for the bald tire statement, its harder to break parts if you don't have traction!!!:hehe:

I would think that is what the front suspension is for?

We've run the different traction bars we manufacture & sell on a few of our trucks - from the short drag bars up to the sled bars, which are almost 8 feet long.

Haven't found much difference in their performance, just in how they accomplish it.... short bars provide more anti-squat, causing more rear wheel traction (and greater bending moment to frame rails), while the longer bars lift the front end more, transfering more weight to the rear end (like you need that pulling the sled!).

Of course, all of our traction bars do a great job of eliminating leaf wrap!
