Which Draw Straw is best for me?

Soon I will be purchasing a Raptor or Airdog pump and I need to know which Draw Straw I should get. I have an 2001 with the in-tank conversion installed by dodge. The in-tank pump is fairly new and hasn't given me any problems with just an Edge-EZ but I want to run an Adrenaline in the future. Should I get the Draw Straw I, II or V?

I would suggest you do a quick search to see what others have been using.

Most are building their own from what I remember but a search will get you what you want.

You want to run the draw straw V. Draw straw 1 will only work if you didnt have the intank pump and the draw straw 2, you have to drill a hole in the tank.

Ok, I just thought I could sell the in-tank pump on craigslist or something to recoupe some money spent on the fuel system.

too expensive? how cheap are tow trucks?

True, but when I can spend $50 vs. $200 and still accomplish the same result I'll go the cheaper route every time.

Just curious but I called Pureflow the other day and they didn't mention I needed a draw straw. Do I have to have one or will the pump pull fuel through the pump in the tank?

I do like the hellmann sump set up, I have a draw straw 1 but I didnt have intank pump retrofit from dodge. Save the coin and go to vulcan performance and get the draw straw V from them and dont try and suck fuel through the factory pump.

Sorry but you will not accomplish the same result with a drawstraw vs a Hellmann sump.

And you can get them for way less than $200

I agree, a sump is the way to go 100%... regardless of how much your gonna bomb your truck. I've got the Alligator Diesel one myself.

is the alligator one the new one where ya can mount it while the tank is still on the truck?

For the Alligator Performance sump you still have to drop the tank. I'm assuming to put a longer draw straw on that reaches down into the sump.

No no no, I don't think to totally understand what a sump is. Its essentially a bath tub drain for your fuel tank that feeds what ever pump system your using. Theres a fitting screwed into the sump from the outside where you connect the supply side hose to your pump. It totally negates the "straw" style feed. And yes, the Alligator sump is designed to not have to drop the tank or pull the bed.

Heres a hellmann sump
