With my original Vulcan Draw Straw, I cannot run my tank down past 1/3 tank. After that level, my AirDog starts pulling air and fuel pressure drops during stops and acceleration.
So for me it is a no brainer. I can put 32 gallons in my tank, but I only have the range of the first 20-25 gallons.
I am going to install the newer ADP Fuel Sump. Primarily because of the ease of installation.

Ive got an Airdog 2 165 on my 01 and just used the straw that came with it. ive run my truck to dang near empty and havent had any problems with it...
