aight guys been looking into some new tires im wanting eigther baja claws or traxus sts. truck is a 2.6 and doesnt see the highway. which would you buy. any input would be great. i know the 3.0 guys run the sts but you dont see em in 2.6 class much.

The claws do nothing but break stuff and they dig too much on the far end and will hurt you more than help. Most guys use the STS's, but lately there seems to be a trend building up on the BFG All Terrains. The Mickey Thompson ATZ's seem to be working great aswell.

I have ran both a did not like either one. The claws dig way to much and the sts do not get enough traction on loose tracks. I am still tryin to decide what tire i want to try this time. Think it might be hancook mts.

The claws stay away from no good. I like the truxus sts i think there the best but a lot of guys are going with bfg's.

if the truck does not see the road sts they have worked really well for me, you need to make sure the truck is set up right first so that you can put your power to the ground then worry about what tires to run just my opinion.

what do you guys think of the pro comp extreme ATs and sledpulling

They suck.

Baja claws? Everyone who buys them, eventually gets rid of them.

STS no good in loose stuff? Huh? Get your pressures down and they do fine.

The STS's do great on almost any track from what i have seen(except maybe mud).

Lots of tires will do good as long as the truck is setup to hook good. I always liked my courser C/T's pretty good.

sts's are soft. but the best tire for most tracks

claws are junk

BFG A/T's are by far the best all-around, good for everything tire..

I just switched from 35" BFG AT's to 33" STS's and it was like night and day. Granted my AT's were around 60% tread, but man what a difference...

sandy tracks and average brush-pull track: STS
Hard pack, clay, rocky, and NADM tracks: BFG A/T

the leading edge of the sts's are too soft and tend to roll.
the BFG A/T's are a hard compound and the thread may chip, but it won't roll.

I would agree with the BFG AT recommendation ONLY when new and sharp.

I was driving mine on the road for a period of time and boy did the grip fall off like a rock. Once the edges got rounded I was in trouble.

Even then you would have a hard time convincing me that the AT is better than an STS...I would say in its best state it is equivalent to a sharp STS.

This is regarding automatic trucks where lots of grip is desireable.

For the stick trucks, I think it depends on your gear and tire pressure strategy a whole lot more, and choosing between the two becomes more based on the truck and its setup. You see winners with both and I would bet winning trucks are 90% running either of these two tires.

There would be a few other tires to put in that list, but none from Pro Comp.

I have some STS to try, but boy do I love the BFG AT. The only time I have disliked them was in mud. The BFG even on some crappy tracks has outperformed some folks running STS's.

that is what I run on the street and they suck all around on street off road and especially sled pulling... granted they are 325/60/18's a pretty wide tire but still no traction anywhere... I finally realized that fact the last pull of the season and just ran my brand new winter tires and it was a night and day difference. they are hankook dynopro atm's 285/7?/17's and I had no traction issues with them...
as a matter of fact I had a few people ask what I did different since I pulled so much better the last pull they thought I had done something to the truck but all I changed was the rubber.

Ive got a set of Cursor ct to try they are winter tires I like the procomps for everyday driving and towing and they actually last.i hate to spend 1k and they last less then a year

i think STS's are the way to do it, but if you are running duals i think they grab a bit much and bfg at's are the way to go. Just my 2 cents

procomps that last? where did you find those... I have less than 5000 miles on mine and they are half gone. I will be lucky to see another 4000 miles out of them before they are not legal for the road.

Claws....dont buy um, i have a slightly used set though if you are set on buyin them, we'll be running sts's next year!
