I am having a hard time deciding what turbos to get in my future twin setup. I want a 800hp daily driver and either want to run a 62/65/13 over s480 or a 64/71/14 over s480. I understand the larger set will get me there easier but will it be terrrible for a daily driver? Thanks

Im runnin a 62/71/13ss over a s480 and am in that range and daily drive it,do u have injectors?

Not yet but i am planning on doing a big buy from shane over at Wicked. How does your truck spool with that combo?

I ran a 64/71/14 over S480 from source automotive. With flux 4's, I was a little over 800hp. It wasn't bad to drive on the street at all. Spool up was a bit better than my single silver bullet.

I've personally seen all of the major kits out there -- MPI, BD, I.I.,. I'd go with a source automotive kit. Better bottom turbo mount, constant diameter piping, and a couple other things that are a bit more subjective.

Has HTT figured out the SS wastegate issue yet?? If not Id stick with the cast housing. $.02

Engineered Diesels 62/68/13ss.
I am running E.D.s 62/68/14, and its bad ass. I have ran in the past, a 62/65/14, 64/71/14, 64/74/14 and an HX35/40.

E.D.s 62/68 has FAST spoolup like a 62/65 but has the topend air like the 71mm turbine wheel. The compressor wheel they have is what they call their "super62" wheel. It spools like a 62, but flows like a 64. They also put their race cover on it, so it flows way more air.

Weston was the one who suggested this turbo. He says the 71mm wheel belongs on tractors and not our trucks. I wanted him to do some turbo write-ups explaining why, but thats not going to happen for a while.

This winter, I am putting on an E.D. S477 with race cover ans a 1.10a/r turbine. Chris said that combo will be good for high 700 to low 800hp.

If you plan on only running the internal gate I would keep the secondary turbine sizing large but for good spool and flow I would run the 65 or 68 wheel as suggested with a large ext wastegate.

Thanks for the first hand info -- another reason I love this site. :rockwoot:

Im runnin flux 4.6's and when wg is workin properly it spools fast! Im fixin to weld wg holes shut and run an external gate and be done with the problems!

with the big tires the 62/71/14 or previous 62/68 as the truck will dog easily when shifting.

Thanks for the info guys. Looking into the 62/71/13ss over s480. I am running 37's for tires and want to know if this combo will spool with all that extra rotation mass. Also what was HTT's problem with the ss wastegate and has it been fixed?

I'm running 35's with a 66/480 set auto & 3:54 gears, and have little lag. A 62 on a CR should spool well for DD w/3:73s.
HTT did make a fix for the gate issues in the SS housings. just be sure to ask when ordering.

I have 4:10's and a 6 speed! should i stick with the 62 or whould the 64 be better?

IMHO, w/4:10s you can run the 64, just be sure to run a decent external gate for top end flow.

Im planning on getting my setup from Shane at wicked diesels. not sure what he uses for a wastegate.

Wow!! I REALLY like the sounds of that setup... but how much more would a set of those cost vs. a 64/71/13SS and a S480 1.32a/r?

Good call! I forgot about that one. Interested on price and availability of that set as well. So many combos out there it is hard to decide what exactly to get. I have changed my mind on what setup to get over 10 times in the past few days.:lolly:

The guys from steinless diesel hav got a good kit with a bottom bracket that hangs the primary turbo from the manifold and the htt 64/71 will spool great
