white smoke off idle from a stop light. Some times?

Just an update. Truck is still doing it but not nearly as much since the weather warmed up. I retorqued the head studs and none budged till a pass at 140lbs so I took them to 145ftlbs. Don't trust going any tighter on them being they are ARP 2000s. I did them in the Cummins pattern on a cold motor with all the rockers loose just to be sure. reset the valve lash to .010 and .017. I didn't drop the down pipe to check anything yet but I am thinking all the guesses for a turbo seal are correct. I went ahead and ordered a rebuild kit for the secondary turbo as it has alot of miles on it compared to the S400 with only around 25k miles. The radiator is holding pressure and not puking and there are no bubbles or cross contamination still. I did find a small leak on a heater hose where it meets the steel line. Once the turbo seals get here I will rebuild the turbo and post back what I find. The weather, work and fighting a cold have slowed progress down.

Latest and greatest. I think I found the problem. My turbo rebuild kit showed up so I pulled the S300. Found some oil/carbon film on the inside of the cover on the cold side and some cakey build up under the cup that covers the bearings. I hope this is the problem, a bad oil seal even though the bearingings are decent. Bad news is that the turbine shaft snapped upon disassembly! I called ED this morning and they are going to get me hooked up with a used shaft and a spring gate. Thanks Chris, you are a life saver!

Smoke still there. I went ahead and switched injection pumps and still getting white smoke. I have narrowed it down to after the truck has been ideling now. I had slight haze yesterday, eve at 2400 RPMs with a warm motor. To date I rebuilt the secondary turbo, switched injectors to some new 5x14 SDX's, changed injection pumps to one fresh of the stand from Seth and verified fuel presure. No oil in intercooler pipes. Anyone have some new ideas?

I hope not but it is possible. 2 year old rebuilt longblock with 25k miles on it. Head has also been pulled since then to Oring it when the studs did not cut it. Once the HG let go it got ringed and the twins went on.

I've read multiple times of having machine work done to allow top-hat style valve stem seals. Haven't seen pics but I haven't looked for them either.

Just thought I'd throw that idea out there. Hope you get it resolved soon. :Cheer:

Well I may have found it today. The cam gear walked off and smacked the front cover. No real damage done but I am hoping that the valve timing was out off wack bad enough to cause the smoke issue. Guess I will find out when some new parts show up. The bad thing is that I was going to put a cam bolt on the cam and forgot to order it because I was BSing with Zach. O well lesson learned. Atleast It gave me an excuse to order some other goodies.
