Who has front axle traction bars?

If you want pic.s of reversed shackles I would have to dig through my pic.s or run over to a buddy of mine and snap some of his. Most of the trucks are now going tube chassi in my area. But the reverse shackle did work very well in the older style fords.

I will post some pics of our bars as soon as they get done, which should be in the next couple days.

You need to lower the front end. Only run 1 leaf spring in the front. Make sure the rear traction bars are long, all the way up to the back of the drivers seat area.

I have to drive my truck to work every day as well as use it for pulling. Unfortunately, I can't afford a pull-only truck. I currently have ladder bar style rear traction bars that end directly behind the drivers seat. My truck is a crew cab short bed SRW. I also run 35's with a 5" lift. You guys think traction bars and higher psi in the front tires will take care of the problem?

Higher psi may make it worse it may help, somethin you have to mess with but the bars will definetly help.

I have an idea... Would control wrap... without binding the leaks, or messing with the sway bars... BUT, I need to figure out a way to show ya'll....

Only problem.. it would be different for each amount of lift... though, only a little..

Not a mass produced item, though, the brackets could be...

I can try...

The axle actually moves in an arc...

The trick, is to find the 2 points, from the fixed eye, and the axle, that MATCH..

Once you find those 2 points, you just build the bar to suit... possible get away with a single 2' DOM tube... but, maybe traingulate a 1.5 or 1.75" DOM tube.. eithe using heims, or poly bushings...

Really simple... just the initial measurements are the trick, maybe someone with SolidWorks can find out pretty easy... other wise, You pretty much have to go out, and cycle the suspension....

Now... the way I would do it... to limit binding, and wrap, without limiting travel, or interfereing with stock stuff...

make the front bar mount integral with the front perch...

The rear, would sit UNDER the axle, with the tube runinng the length of the leaf.. probably about 2-3 inches below it..

Sorry all, kinda hard to express this in print...

Forgive the piss poor work with Paint... I am not a digital artist...

But, the basics...

If you can ge tthe arcs of 1 adn 2 to match, you will NOT have any bind issues... and, there is/should be enough leverage there to STOP axle wrap..

that isnt the best picture, but, shoudl be enough for someone to work with...

Or at least help with what I am trying to convey...

That is a good picture, of a 2 link on the rear.. .same principal, just in the front..

any news on these yet ryan going to be pulling in sturgis March 15th would like to give these a shot if possible... will be a nice test before TS buts looking like the ASB is bigger than a 2.8 so may just have to stick to the drags and dyno...:poke:

I would try running dual shocks. That should take care of it. Make sure you run decent gas shocks. Make sure your not running too much spring in the front. That's why it works so good for the torsion bar guys to lower the front. It lightens the spring. Just my thoughts.

I tossed out the gas shocks and went old school with two on each corner.

I have a set of fronts on my 03 and they work like a dream with 800lbs on the front!! will try and get pics up of em...

If it is bouncing and not axle wrap try adjusting your airpressure. My ford didn't bounce at all but the dogde was bouncing about 1/2 a foot. I adjusted the air in the front to 15psi and 70psi in the rear and it solved that problem.

I actually made one large traction bar that bolts around the fornt differential and has a long bar that comes back to the trans crossmember with a double hanger system on the crossmember. It worked perfectly and I can leave it on for everyday driving. I have also had the suspension fully articulated and everything is working fine. Next pull I am going to try a lower front tire psi so I can get more traction. Last pull I had 25 in the front and 50 in the rear and it pulled as smooth as could be with the front traction bar.

im pretty sure mine is axle wrap since my front wheels are moving front to back and not up and down...
