Sounds like the timing, I would keep messing with it, Once you figure it all out are you interested in selling ur vp if you still got it?
 
going to put the truck back to stock, or pretty close to it. im better off finding a 12v with more miles than mine.
 
Ya man come on. Im having troubles with mine I even have an oil leak somewhere but I sure as hell am not gana give up now. Dont take the easy way out. Try to better yourself by finding/fixing the prob. Always think positive and you will get it.n Goodluck man.
 
Yea seriously man get it right when I p-pumped my 1st gen and got it out of the drive way and hammered it all suddenly a loud pop and white smoke I was for sure I f-ed it up but found out timing slip so retimed it and I threw a little more timing second time round and it began to be hard to star after that so did some research and bumped timing back down some and it does great now. But before then was for sure I was going back to the VE. So do some research and reading and just hang in there man cause once you got it right it will be fun ride and awsome power.

I have a 94 12v motor still in the truck running I would trade you for some of the parts you have. Let me know.
 
send me some specs on that turbo. is it a t4 or t3 foot? mark has been working on his house is what he told me so hes probably busy. thats a long drive for him just to look at your truck

I know you want a 12v, I would trade you my 98 12v 2500 4x4. Only thing done to it is pump mods. Nothing added or changed on the truck so you could make it how you want it.
