Hey guys, I still have a miss in my truck i have been fighting for some time now. i have done a compression test, checked valves, valve springs, push rods, and pulled the cam out of it and about everything else i can think of.

I believe the problem is in my pump. and have thought about getting it benched, but only two shops i have found that can flow one of these pumps with in a reasonable distance of me is Columbus diesel supply and schied diesel. Are there any other shops close to me ( springfield, ohio ) or should i stay with one of those 2? Any other ideas

My other issue is that is a good chunk of $$$ to spend on a guess so i have thought about trying to borrow / rent a pump for a few weeks or possible buy another pump so i could install it to see if the problem goes away before spending all that money on some pump work.

Columbus or scheid are definitely two good places to have it benched. I wouldn't imagine it being more than a couple hundred bucks to just throw it on a stand and see how it runs. Now if your having work done to it then I could see it costing more.

do you have a sticking plunger? that causes a miss in my truck sometimes

like i told SFP12valve i put heavy duty tractor motor oil in my fuel tank and it helps a ton.

is the miss at idle or during acceleration, i'm also from springfield and have been building 12v's since 99. I would recommend CDS and their only 45min away

CDS and Sheid are definitely the 2 top shops for P-Pumps.

But like Tyler said, do you need a shop to build you a top flight pump, or do you need them to throw it on a stand and make sure it's working correctly. Because that should be a lot cheaper.

Mine is getting closer to going out to DPE. Come on tax return!

When I called both of those shops one quoted me out at 425 and the other 475 or 500 just to bolt the pump up to the machine. That didn't count any labor time spent on the pump or any parts. SO in my thinking I can see that adding up to $1000 pretty easy, or am I wrong with that assumption.

The miss is more prevalent on bottom end though the middle of the rpm range, if you get into the upper rmp range it is not as noticeable but still there.

I'd call DPE. I talked to Seth (CTDYoungGun) awhile back, and their prices seemed very reasonable.

I'm not arguing that CDS and Scheid do not know what they are doing, but there are definitely cheaper alternatives in this case if you just want to see if something is wrong with your pump. $.02

I spoke with seth earlier today, and hopefully we can get something going here in the near future

are you sure your timing hasn't slipped, it will cause popping and sputtering during accelleration. if you think it's your pump i would crack the lines one at a time until you find the one thats not firing if all of you lines look good you may want to have your injectors pop tested.

There is a diesel repair shop behind the fairgrounds next to Werner trucking called The Truck Place but i'm not sure if they have a stand or not you may wanna get ahold of them

While I didnt have a problem with mine I had CDS max out my pump, w/ gsk DV's and everything else they do it was a lot less than 1k.

Wow just to put mine on the stand was $125, he ended up charging me $170 by the time we decided to set at 530cc's. Then a $25 damn shut-off solenoid boot! total bill with tax was like $210.. Sounds like he hooked me up!
