Who to bench my p-pump

Wow just to put mine on the stand was $125, he ended up charging me $170 by the time we decided to set at 530cc's. Then a $25 damn shut-off solenoid boot! total bill with tax was like $210.. Sounds like he hooked me up!

Who was that through?

Hey guys, I still have a miss in my truck i have been fighting for some time now. i have done a compression test, checked valves, valve springs, push rods, and pulled the cam out of it and about everything else i can think of.

I believe the problem is in my pump. . .

Hope you get to the bottom of you challenges, I had something similar with my '96 that cropped up at 355,000 miles. I did all you did plus did a valve job and swapped out the injection pump and fiddled with GSK springs. Didn't help at all. Finally gave up on it and have lived with it for 74,000 miles. This isn't too uncommon of a problem with the 12V p-pump trucks. One theory is the pulsating lift pump which is in time with the engine affects the cylinder that fires at the point of lowest fuel pressure. I've thought about trying some kind of pulse damper or regulator to smooth out the fuel pressure peaks & valleys but I haven't gotten around to it.

if i am understanding you correctly that shouldnt be a problem of mine becuase i am running a fass fuel system so i have a constant flow of fuel. NOw i have heard about the gov. spring causes this is a few trucks, what would i need to look for in the gov.springs?

i have heard of guys bending the shaft that the gov springs set on and that will cause issues

How would you go about bending the shaft? Is that an avoidable scenario halerazor?

Its fairly simple. You start to remove the nut that holds on the springs, then realize the shaft isn't centered in the hole and start to question whether or not it will come out at all. So you try to center the shaft a bit more, but since the nut isn't holding the retainer anymore, it can get caught up on the pump and in the process, bend the shaft. I had this happen to me once. Once. Never have a girlfriend help with GSK installs.
