you swaped a nv5600 for a g56 and..

I'm just askin more or less. Not positive at all...

1999 and 2000 nv5600's had small input 1.25" and used the 12.25" clutch, it wasn't until the H.O. motor came out 2001 that they were 1.375". Also you can't change out the input on a 5600 without tearing the tranny all the way down.

That's kinda what I was thinking... However I was not aware on the input change though. Thanks Dan

Thanks for all the info guys.

And with the whole cryo/treating of internal parts and gears i've heard some mixed opinions from local guys on whether or not it's worth messing with and it shouldn't be done to anyhthing used...?

With my original trans, smarty tuning and around 675hp i really beat the crap on of it for 20k miles, and it wasn't untill luanching in 3rd 4 hi that it broke. This "built" trans and 90 more hp, i've deff been alot nicer to, havn't lunched it ever and it went out with less then 8k miles on it. Just kinda seems all the hype on cryo oil and gurdels didn't do sh*t.

That is a PITA the first time around. It took me 2 days to figure out the order to pull the roll pins and get the linkage off LOL:doh:

Thanks for the info, I was unaware that any NV5600s were installed in non HO trucks.

G56s are weaker than the 5600s... 5600s have a 1 3/8 input factory. most of the problems i have seen are from breaking mainshafts sled pulling in 2nd high.

I put a 2 piece main in mine, about the only upgrade for the 5600 I know of readily available.

Not that I'm aware of. All NV5600s had the 13in. Clutch plate which has a 1 3/8 diameter spline. I used to have a 2002 Dodge and it had the 1 3/8 shaft. I know in 2000 there weren't many produced due to availability and I know the 2001s had 1 3/8 shafts too. Some one chime in if I'm wrong about the 2000s.

All the low output CRs with the NV4500 had the 1 1/4 inputs.

I agree, every NV5600 I have seen is 1-3/8 input. Mine has 142K on it and is the only thing on my truck that has never given me any trouble.

Early six speeds had small input shafts as stated like 4 post ahead of this or so.

I stand corrected, have yet to see one of them, I thought that only the NV4500's with different input sizes

You toke out a gorilla 56?

Made about 12 hooks with it running 4th 4low though

Well if you haven't figured out, Dan (Valair1) will give you any info you need, that guy is awesome.

FWIW, I've always been told to go with the NV over a G56 because the whole aluminum vs. cast iron debate. I love my NV5600, never had any issue and I'm about to change the fluid and add transcoolers as well. I can't remember the fluid to use though.
Maybe this is BS but I thought when they still had NV's they swapped those into trucks with broke G56's?
