A friend and I are doing a cummins swap on an 83 Suburban with a first gen front axle.

What do you guys recommend for a right side drop transfer case. I got a 47re to throw in and I have a few options for the transfer case. We can either turn over a np241dld, use a np205 which I've been told I need to get bigger shafts for, or a turned over already np273?

I am relatively new to everything, and have just been reading a lot on the forums about transfer case strengths, but there seems to be some disagreement.

I'd like to get a few opinions on what people have done and/or what they recommend. What is the strongest transfer case? Why? And will it bolt up to the 47re. Thanks in advance for your comments and advice.

Also we're planning on it have about 500hp. And we will be taking it up trails this fall.

1988-1993 NP241D from a V-6 or V-8 DODGE 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton gasser.
Lighter, deeper low gear ratio and a fixed rear yoke that you can swap out.

It's also a bargain compared to other options for t-cases, because it's a pretty common and overlooked case.

Mark.
