Looking at buying a 05 long block from my buddy since it burnt up a little of # 6 piston due to bad injector. What's a fair deal, he wants 500 bucks.

This is the damage done, I'm just not sure if the head would be any good. Would like your guys opinion because I am no machinist.
 
If it has a fuel system you could make your money back anyway and if the crank is good you would be ok. But to me the block and head are both junk.
 
The cross cylinder damage is very bad it is possible to weld both and cut but I don't know the cost! The crank is worth 500. so if you part it out you'll make your money back Looks like the block might get away with a heavy decking but the machine shop would have to make that call! Looks like a one pass burn at the welders would make it perfect again, and if the cylinder didn't get scored which I doubt but possible you can replace the one piston
