We saw a 4X4 yesterday- who couldnt get his 4wd to work so he pulled at the end, run for fun. The sled was at its lightest and he couldnt get past 40 feet.

let me gues at/mt tires less than 12" wide like 315/75 or smaller

here is something for the people stuck thinkin 4wd
go take you truck through 1200-1500lb in the bed on or behind the rear axle..... floor it and tell me how easy it is to do a relative sharp turn (IE 45*-90*) in 2wd..... i promise you your truck will run straight a few feet before it dicides to turn on dirt or payment

oh tell me how light nose the truck is tooo i bet you will be very surprised :bang

weight xfer has everything to do with gettin a 2wd to hook and too much weight xfer on a 4x4 to the rear WILL break parts we already now that part.........and we already know a 4x4 truck setup runnign in 4x2 setup wont go very far

hell most truck are already 60/40 f/r split (mine is 3900/2900) then throw 1200 pound 60" in front the fornt axle.........the cuts the 2800-3300 pound buy at least 1000 pounds on the rear if not more. so you end up sitting round a 75/25-85/15 weight split
weight transfer and traction has everything to do with running a 2wd truck and the lack of weight transfer for a 4x4 truck
 
I dont see why so many of you guys think 2wd's cant pull. I guess many dont watch the 2wd gas trucks pull do you?

OK wildman, go for it. I'll put the big sticks in Rob's truck and run the hitch at 22" for good measure. You can run at 8000lbs, with a 30" hitch height. Lets see who out hooks who? (Rob driving of course)

Wildman, why do you have such a hard on to race my wife? Every time you go to the drag strip to run a 14.xxx you come back saying next time she needs to be there so you guys can race. So were going to drive all the way there to watch one cool truck (Pat's) and have to endure an entire day of heat and you redlighting. Guess what? Save it. You wanna race her truck real bad, we'll do it out on Edison.

she started it when she just got the truck said that could spank my ass back in nov/dec ......and i said name the time and place........... now she and i have agreed just too bench race.... she has her reason and i am cool with that.
i was useing her truck as an example since i dont know anyone in the area and on this site that is in the 450-500hp class of the top of my head

hmm i drive 8 hours to whatch your 210-220' foot pull and me redlight second round (second thought i should have never race at redding after watching a rail car go side ways out of the hole and 4x4s do the same) and dyno low happend in the same day at the same place.... looks like that was a bad day for the booth of us :bang :shake:
me driving 3 hour to watch casper break in to the 10s and paul and drew into the 12s was :woohoo: and well worth it. the following day i ran two consecuative(SP) passes 13.8 and 13.9 both @ 100.XX then got asked to leave due to dropping dirt on the track never got a chance to try the slicks i had borrowed :bang i have sense remeded that problem.

im min 2-3 month out money wise in finishing it

and racing saturday was a BIG!!!f'n mistake..:doh: ....so i am out for at least another 2 week till i am allowed to bend my leg more than 0*..... which is to me is a nice :kick:



so when did bench racing/smake talk become a hard on :what:

Her truck makes about 410hp, when the F did I tell you it had 450-500? Never, something you made up on a day you were'nt making the NAVY any money.

my bad didnt know the tranny has not been done yet......

well if the NAVY did break me i would be doing my job...... now they are fixing me.......... and 1 of 2 12 week recovery is now in process :bang

so back on topic....
i get the truck setup the only thing i would like to borrow is weight about 1200 to get me to 8000 from some one.... and see if i can carry my front tires down the track either i will a a comedy relief or be competative with a 4x4 truck that make 450-500hp and if rob is in the same class power wise sure no problem
 
Ok so is there anymore info on A 2wd pulling class starting for DHRA or any other organization coming up next season? Just like to see some of the rules.
 
There was an older guy at the TS event last year in a red duallie, he made a run in 2wd, by accident I'm assuming. Still pulled 26x ft. I believe! Then came back for a "fun run" in 4wd and went 30x ft. I think.

And I'm thinking a 2wd toting the front tires is going to need some serious frame work.
 
I'm not looking to get the front tires off the ground. If I have to I'll pull the bed and box the frame. I really want to pull and dont need a 4x4 for anything other then pulling. I'm hoping someone comes up with a class or atleast a rough rule idea.

go look at the gas trucks...the axle is at the complete rear end of the truck, and their gas engines weigh about half as much...trying to pull with a 2wd DIESEL truck is like putting your head on the ground and trying to walk forward...all the weight is in the wrong place...

...also some food for thought...it doesn't matter how much weight you throw over the back axle when there is still 2000-2500 lbs sitting over a front axle that isn't helping pull...you guys can give it a whirl, but the 3 or 4 that i have seen try it spin out around 75-100 ft...
