My question is how would have BD handle this if you would have been one of there distributors? i bet they would have taken it back and had a new one on the way!!

Kind of like screw the little guy right? Of course they will be more lenient to the bigger guys/companies that spend alot of money with them.

How did BD prove the oiling issue was not caused by debris in the turbo feed port that restricted flow and starved the turbo for oil?

They might have even found the blockage during their inspection and then cleared it just to skip out on the warranty claim that should have gone up the food chain one more step to the original builder (Borg).

If the oil deprivation was not caused by the customer's negligence, the damage should be warrantied and corrected at no cost to the customer.

The problem is, how do you or BD prove which party caused the oil deprivation?

There is no way to prove. I'm just completely fed up with this whole deal honestly.

I've had good luck with them, but this makes me very skeptical about buying from them again. I really hope they reconsider this and weigh the cost of a turbo vs the cost of lost business.

I had a new turbo fail within 90 miles once. The warranty pic of the shaft looked exactly like yours and they claimed oiling issue too.

They rebuilt with a new turbine shaft and bearings for $3xx. 15k miles later that same turbo is still good. I changed NOTHING with the oiling side of it. ???

I still don't know what to think...

You know exactly what to think! LOL

if the original turbo was fine and the repaired turbo is fine, the first "new" turbo had a manufacturing defect. plain and simple

Yep Yep I know. But what I'm saying is, the little guy gets screwed on that stuff.

I've been thinking on this for a bit and trying to figure out what I think I see in hectors photos.
My estimation is that the thrust bearing and one journal didn't receive enough oil. The other journal looks dry and one has oil coking from heat.
I can't see this BW chart or have much training on turbo failure analysis.
I'm not sure how one could claim lack of lube if the failed parts have oil on them? I understand a restriction could have been present.

Beats me man. I'm just as confused as you are. There was no restriction on my part. The turbo I pulled off was just fine as well as the turbo I put on after the fact.

I dont even want a new turbo from them anymore. I'd just like to have my damn $1600 back.

Don't know what good this would do or if it would even help at all but would anyone be opposed to signing a petition? I figure if I can get a few hundred signatures or so I could at least show them the business they're losing.

Don't forget, BD, it was the customers that made you a successful company, and its the customers that can make you a dismantled and forgotten company.

Sign me up.... They gave me the run around on a tranny a few years ago, i can bring another twenty names to the table easily... The roth's got big... Now they figure thwy can walk all over the people that keep them alive.... Should see the attitude they have at Dyno day in Vancouver

BD gets these tuebos straight from Borg ready to go.... Yet when they first released the "Killer B" i asked the dude @ dyno day why the big price jump for a BD sticker... He asked what i was talkin about... We got into a discussion about me recently having purchased a 63/68 from borg thru Alamo Industries in edmonton for less then half of what they wanted.... "We hand build these turbos here, install the 360* thrust" yada yada....

Try calling them to ask for a question about there products.... Grab a beer and wait as they transfer you all around the shop, there customer service sucks... They upsell everything and the second there chit breaks its YOUR fault

Count me in. This is why I deal with small shops.

i will never be purchasing a BD product. i will also be spreading the word and referring all the people who inquire about BD products to this thread so they can see what the customer service is like at their company.

would've really liked to see the OP get a new turbo out of this.

ive never understood how companies like BD can take a box charger and add $800 to the price tag and re-name it. especially when the guy at BD admitted it comes from borg assembled and ready to go...
i for one was under the impression BD takes the box turbo and does some "mods" to it to make it a little better. guess not

Keep em coming guys! Thanks for the support. I'm going to work on getting this petition together.

Do u have any recourse in talking with your credit card company ? Would they recall the payment . . . ? I know American Express will . . .
