Billet CR block coming soon.. final thoughts/opinions

Jeremy, with your reference to Sonny, I cant resist posting a little off track. Givent the compression of Mountian Motors, I cant help but day dream about well built gas/alky engine with cam over-lap backed off to raise the dynamic compression, replacing plugs with diesiel injectors, bolt on some HX82's and havie a 6000+ rpm diesel with heads that actualy breathe! Some one with deep pockets is gonna do something cool, someday. Then again, maybe just another path to what the likes of Cope and couple others have in Pro-stock.

Isnt that what blown smoke is? Except with a massive blower and no turbos.

European diesel prostocks are 505ci single turbo and run 6000rpm+ on factory heads(rules). Biggest bore possible and shorten stroke to get down to 505ci. The billet heads on alcohol and diesel tractors breathe just fine. Why do you think guys use a 903 cummins in ulss tractors. 5.5 bore 4.75 stroke stock. They just destroke them to get down to meet the ci rules.

The bore size is normally reduced also. Too big of bore gets hard to tune with the current caveman fuel systems.

Pretty sure one of the first that was fooling with the billet steel blocks went to considerably more bore and had to pull back on it because everything from the small pin down was hating life.

Look at the simple comparison of the 6.7 and 5.9. Those PM rods will make way more power in the 5.9.

Bump for updates. DNR do you have any news on the billet block situation?

Thanks, Wil

The ball is in motion.
I will probably start a new thread once i have a few more concrete details.
Just waiting to here from Kent at Scheids. Ive decided to go through them after having some real good conversations with him and Dan, Smarter to pay a few bucks extra for the knowledge and expierance they already have with the billet blocks.
Pretty excited to possibly have the only Cr billet block, 24v cr injection, wet block that i know of in a 3rd gen.

Great decision IMO. Good luck and keep us updated!

Very wise decision ... & I'm sure you will find that those guys will do whatever it takes to make your money spent be a worthwhile endeavor . I have done business with many in this industry , but the " care " that Scheid has for your outcome is second to none .

Agreed, i think many guys in this thread may be a bit bummed im not doing some off the wall build. But why re invent the wheel, if i had bottomless pockets i would be up for trying off the wall stuff. But thats not the case!! Im confident with the build we laid out and feel i can have one of the top CR motors around all said and done.

How's the billet block progress coming? I keep seeing stuff on FB and IG that you're going to run a fleece 6.4 engine instead?

Dan and the guys at scheid diesel are good folks!

We tried with 5 blocks made deposits and they dropped the ball for over a year. there just not really interested, because there tied up making gasser blocks, there set up for that, and it is what there likely going to stay with.

No doubt they make nice gasser blocks though. But there not the only game in town.

They amount of times "there" was used incorrectly in this post made me want to kill puppies.
