Time to throw out the s467.7 turbo choices?

yeah its installed and i made the trip with it 9 hours from Houston to work.

i must say im not impressed yet but i haven't changed tunes yet. im starting to think my converter is just to tight. I don't notice any majorly quicker spool up and it doesn't pull as hard up top as the 467.7 but it just wants more fuel. *** confirmed no boost leaks and i make about 52 psi (non gated)***

I lost about 200* EGT all around and im only seeing 1400* @ WOT where i would see 1700 before. The exhaust is clean at WOT where it used to be a heavy haze. i'm about to go do some logging then see how much fuel i can add.

ryan wants me to switch to a 6.7 sensor and increase pressure over duration. i bet my 60 overs are about to be tapped out.

i am only seeing 900-1000 egts on the freeway (unloaded) at 75-80mph. so that is a MAJOR improvement over the 1200 i used to see on the 467.7
your thoughts guys?

Like I said, the sxe turbine flows a ton!

You went .91 or 1.0?

I'm confused how you lost 300° egt up top and it doesn't pull as hard as the s467. Is it slower feeling to spool?

It doesn't spool much faster, that's for sure.

those numbers were on ryans tuning= 2500 us, 30* timing and 26100 on the rail....@ WOT

i just came back from logging and i reflashed to an old tune of Les's that was 3000us and 27* timing. i could peg the pyro @ 1700* if i stayed in it but it pulled Hard up top with just a haze at full tilt.

i need to try a new tune. its a fine line between fogging the turbo v.s. not giving it enough to spool. no matter if i mat it or roll into it it wont start coming on till over 25psi.

You were at 1200* unloaded on the freeway with the 67? That's crazy I'm at 900-950 with mine. Maybe your tuning is the culprit.

About what I would expect. It feels slower up top cause its pulling harder in the midrange? And the drop in EGT's with reduced smoke sounds like you've got lots of room for fuel.

It took my 69 a few hundred miles to loosen up but sounds like you've got some miles on it already. Some new tuning would probably help forsure. PM sent

I wouldn't bump pressure in the name of power. On a street truck, make power at 26k or don't bother.

working on a new Csp tune now with some changes made.

one thing i wanted to add .... the day i was driving 8 hours to west texas it was 70-75* out. Once i was out here and logging it was 95* out.... we all know what ambient temps do to EGt's and smoke. so not the best comparison.... i think i will have the big end dialed soon, but ill be honest, my weakness is timing at part throttle. timing scares me so i don't change much in that department.

im not going to try and brag about part throttle timing v.s. spool up because that is my Achilles heel.

don't let timing scare you too much. yes it needs to be in control, but also keep in mind the higher hp PPump boys are often running 25-30* at all times. not to mention your rail pressure plays a big role....its not injection timing that really matters, as much as ignition timing. :rockwoot:

Well it was definitely tuning...

Special thanks to Dominic for helping me out! I ended up logging the previous tune I had and there was ZERO timing change till 20 psi, which explains a LOT. I'm not here to bash but I spent a lot of money with my previous tuner and my truck was always a complete turd down low and I always blamed the 467.

I noticed at sea level with stock fuel with an s467 it spooled decent with a 500 hp tune but was still laggy. I drove it to a shop with an almost stock tune and it was way worse. Tuning definitely makes a huge difference. I did not play with the tuning myself or with different tuners though.

Let's be clear the no timing changes until 20psi and the "turd tuning" wasn't mine....

yep, my old tuning from a "popular tuner" was the culprit... Les and Dominic have been true gentlemen on getting me headed in the right direction!

I have flashed it probably 10 times in the last week but i am almost smoke free and spooling way sooner than before. i have a few dead spots after lock up getting on the freeway but im getting there.

@ 2850 u.s. and 26* timing on the s369 pulls harder on the big end than the 467.7 @ 27* and 3100 u.s. with about 150* less on the pyro @ WOT.
