5th gear killer
ok, now that ive finally got my 6.0 running again, id like to ask everyone some advice on how to make 500 horsepower with a 6.0? this truck probably never will see a trailer behind it, and it probably wont ever see a sled either... its lifted purty high, so its mostly a toy. im looking for advice on injectors, turbos, SCT tuning, and stuff like that. no NOZZ, LOL..

as of now, all i have is a straight pipe 5" exhaust and Dfusers race tune.. and lag isnt a big deal from the turbo, but id like to keep it to a minimum.. people keep the EPA on speed dial around me for some strange reason, lol...

thanks in advance for everyones advice and expertise!

modded vgt, a set of 150-175cc stix and good tunning, it'll give ya that kick in the pants that your looking for

agreed. my 190's have me there with stock turbo, but the stock one is not suffecient for the fuel supply.

Somewhere in the range that shawn posted along with a turbo is probably perfect for what you are looking for.

500 hp on #2

EGR Delete (preferably cooler also)
Upgraded fuel lines to the front of the head and a crossover line in the back
EGT and fuel pressure gauge (would, also, recommend an hpop and boost gauge)
175 to 190cc injectors (would recommend slightly smaller but with your wheels and tires, 175 to 190 will put 500 to the ground)
Modded vgt (61 or 62mm compressor) or one of our quick spooling units (still experimental, but since you are local, we can get you fixed up to ensure it is working right). The problem with the VGT is your going to have surge issues because of your setup.

Advised:
Converter upgrade (Suncoast Stage I)
Transmission upgrade (NADP or Suncoast)

Just an FYI, I had a modded VGT with the 64.7mm wheel and with the lift and tires, I would surge pretty bad on hills or while towing, so keep that in mind.

My new "quick spool unit" from Trusted is kicking ass so far!

oh yeah, forgot to mention i have the boost and pyro in already.. bout to order a voltage gauge, and soon the hpop gauge..

i do want to do the full egr delete, and definetaly the headstuds. what about oringing the heads? i havent heard much about oringing stroker heads. me personally, id like to have that done, but if its not needed or beneficial, than ill use the money elsewhere..

can stock injectors be modified to say the 175s? thanks for the info guys! keep it coming...

Very few companies make injector parts. Most are modifying them. So, as long as your injectors are good, then yes.

O-ring for 500 hp isn't necessary. The stock MLS gasket will be just fine.

My personal opinion, fuel pressure if more important than voltage as far as gauges are concerned.

ok, ive got an extra fuel pressure gauge laying around i may throw in..

whats everyones opinion on porting and polishing?

How deep are your pockets for the build?

Basic fuel system like stated before
EGR Delete
Studs
modded VGT
and 190s should get you where you wanna be.

Add some spray to the mix for even more enjoyment.

But if your wallet allows it go ahead and get the PnP done as well as a trans/converter combo.

I'd stay away from the 0-ring/fire-ring stuff. Too many people out there with that done that have had them fail IMO.

Yep

Sounds like you got some good advice there. My advice is to do it right the first time and not the 3rd time.

X2. Look at my sig. and you'll see a lot of wasted money on the end.:bang

lol, yeah, thats why i figured id ask yall what the best route would be.. i dont really have the funds to be throwing at this truck, and id like to get to this goal without any hiccups, or drawbacks.. wish i woulda done that with my VP truck a couple years ago! LOL

Then without a doubt you need to forget about modding 6.0's. reliable for those means 25k before something fails.
