Nice work!

why tube and not 4x2 or whatever?

I have a 28 Dodge bros I want to throw a 4bt in and and going to need to build a frame. Have been going back and forth on which is stronger, which is cheaper, and which is easier...

Any advantage to mount the coil-over this way?

With ratio lever the spring and shock absorber must be super hard and movement very limited

It's a 2 to 1 ratio with a 750 spring rate, I only need 3 inches of travel but this very setup allows for 8 inches of travel or better

I did it to have extra bed space , it's worked very well in my other builds .. If you use a1 to 1 ratio you don't need a heave spring rate, maybe 350 range on a light truck
