So, I'm planning right now, on Tuesday, to go to ORP in Indianapolis, for the open drag night, just for fun, to see what I can do. My truck's not really set up for drag racing, but I'm just kinda curious, and it's only 15 bucks to get in. I've read the 101 post, and I've talked to a couple of people who have dragged before. I figured I'd post up what I'm planning on doing, and see if there's any more input out there, tricks, or a better way to do it...
I'll be running a Con OFE single disc, 315/75/15 KM2s (I know, not exactly drag friendly, but it's what I've got right now), TST Comp, Edge Comp, Scheid 150's, and a 64/71/14.
My plan is to stage, and wait till the light turns green and launch in second gear, 4 hi, without building boost prior, since I can't afford to fry my clutch. Planning on just trying to get off the clutch into gear as soon as possible, without dumping the clutch, and going from there. From my understanding, stay out of the water box, it's not going to do me any good, and I'm obviously not going to be doing any burnouts, since that's not gonna do me any good either!
I'm thinking about trying the first run with the TST on 6, and the Edge on 3x5, and then experimenting a bit if I get another chance to run, of turning the TST up to 8, and turning the Edge off, depending on whether or not it's going to give me any issues with timing shudder. I did have one question though, after reading the NHRA manual, (an older one), it stated that fire extinguishers must be hard mounted to the vehicle, not mounted with a flip off latch, which is how mine is...do i need to take it out of the truck then, or is that only a certain class restriction?
Any advice you guys could give would be greatly appreciated, thanks!:thankyou2:
