Hello,
I am getting ready to start swapping my a 2006 5.9 and 48RE into my wife's Excursion. I started making calls and talked to someone at destroked about the swap. He said that for them to do the wiring for a 2006 would be something like $800. But he said that a 2005 would be cheaper. I have been looking around on the forum and seen a couple of things mentioned about wiring. I Have a good bit of experience with wiring and wanted to get some opinions from those who have done similar swaps. converting to a 2005 would allow me to run the fleece controller and a vgt, but i'm sure it wouldn't be cheap to get all the stuff. is the 2006 wiring that much more complicated that it might make it worth converting to 2005?

Thanks!

Engine's ECM controls the 48.. if you know what wires are what in the 06 harness just add in the correct fuses and wire what is required

don't step backwards with a 05 conversion harness.. it would be more complicated to rewire your 06 harness to a 03-05 ecm.. 40+ pins are relocated and splicing of grounds than to just add a fuse block.

tipm function is not need for EFI Live

What exactly does the tipm control? I do have EFILive. i was counting on disabling the anti theft. Is there anything else that needs to be done to eliminate the tipm? Thanks for the information. it's already sounding easier than some of the swap companies made it out to be.

Who would you recommend going with for engine mounts and other stuff like that?

destroked is way over priced for the bent sheet medal you get.

but i did purchase there TACH kit, lower hose kit, outer fan shroud & pedal adaptor mount.

do you have any opinion on the motor mounts from Fordcummins.com/dieselconversionspecialists?

I would never ever deal with ford cummins again. That place is a hack shop, if you want nice motor mounts call Dawna Krauss at auto world conversions. She had about the nicest mounts that can be bought

are the quad mounts from auto world the ones that require relocation of the ecm? Do the standard mounts require ecm relocation as well?

There's really no need for the quad mounts the singles will do just fine and you should be able to keep the ECM in place with the singles

Have you done a 06 Common Rail / 48re Fummins?

as of right now ive built 3 cm849 stand alone harness in drag trucks and 2 harness in ford conversion trucks one in witch will be at SEMA. on the order currently ive got two Canadians that want 06 conversions witch will happen over the winter. my current fummins project is lacking funds but the turbos will be here Tuesday :woohoo: and the steedspeed is WAY back ordered. also weve currently have a 08 ford that is in need of a swap. we just finished grooming/painting the engine tonight and waiting for some destroked parts to be machined then the cab will be lifted.

all of these harnesses ive built ive removed all the associated wiring for the trasmissions in the fummins swaps because they ran the ford transmission. as for the race trucks they have used a full manual valve body requiring no ecm input.

Connector c2 is TCC lock up, TTVA motor Control, Main pressure, Trans temp, 3-4 shift solenoid. remember 48re is half hydraulic

06 would probably need the tipm for 48re control.

TIPM has a couple wires going to it for the transmission. To the OP..the wires I haven't been able to figure out yet are labeled "transmission control". I can tell you I haven't been able to make a conversion work using the factory style harness, and have the trans function properly, that didn't include a tipm. Another thing to be sure of is that an auto ecm is used. for some reason you can make an auto ecm work for manual swaps but not the other way around.

this is for the park, Natural, and reverse lights.

FTKRayJr Welcome to CompD.

If you do SEMA this year you will see one of my conversion harnesses
