Cool conversion! I like when people figure out something that others say can't be done, good job man!

I'm finally getting back to the excursion after about a month of hardly working on it. It seems like I don't have much clearance at all at the rad or at the firewall. If the pics show up you can see that I have less than an inch to the crimp on the rad tank. and at the back of the engine I can get my fingers slid inbetween the valve cover and the insulation about to the second knuckle without getting crazy and that's about it. My mounts are from diesel conversion specialists and they seem to have the motor sitting higher than it needs to. Did I make a bad choice on supplier for my motor mounts? Or is this typical for a CR?

Since I was in the shop taking pictures, and this is the diesel conversion section of the forum, I figured I'd include a picture of my other current conversion project. We removed the cat 3412 and put in a hot rodded series 60 Detroit.

Define "hot rodded" if you will. I love hopped up 60 series and would love to see a video!!!

hot rodded means 100% over extrude honed injectors 15:1 pistons S500 turbo with a 105mm compressor wheel and custom program. this one still isn't done. Right now we are putting a 12valve in a 290 excavator that was a 24 valve and a 14Lseries 60 in a Fl112 freightliner that was never available with a series60. shooting for 800 hp with an 83mm compressor and custom tune this will be our heavy haul truck that will gross 150,000 with our biggest machine.

I wish you the best of luck with the 48re, my 05 CR/48re conversion has towed and pushed hard 30,000 miles and yesterday, 45 mph on a slight grade empty truck , POP and coast to a stop, the $700 for billet input shaft was as waste , the $1500 Gorend converter in going to require $$$ and probably stator and pump.
The 48re has been the Worst part of my conversion, it has never downshifted well with Smarty power , and the #3-4 shift with the triple lock has been violent at times untill I came up with an adjustable time delay relay for the converter.
Short of it is I wished a 1000 times I'd put a 6 speed or Alision in it and it may happen now depending on the price on the repair.
Most likely your wife wont be nearly as hard on it as I have been but I built it to Tow which it has done well but the price tag for the miles used is going to hurt.

That sure is a bummer. My brother had a similar thing happen to him. If I remember right he figured the problem to be an incorrect lever ratio. The lever wasn't allowing the band to release fast enough during the shift basically keeping it in 2 gears at the same time for a split second. I think he broke 2 inputs in a week. This machine is pretty much stock right now but i will probably be doing some mild upgrades in the near future.
