ok guys i have a 97 12 valve with a 180 pump im looking to be around 600 hp or more i already have a built tranny i was thinking of going with 5x.018s and laser cuts i know there overkill but down the road i want to put twins on when i have more money. My pumps fully tuned and i will be buying a rack plug. For the turbo i was either thinking of a 64/71, 64/74, 66/71, or 66/74. I will b running around 18 degrees timing too and ill have the 4k gsk and studs . I just want some more advice on spoolup and such. The truck will be drove mainly on the weekends. Well any info is greatly appreciated and thanks for the advice guys

I knew i was forgeting something ill be getting an airdog 150 to supply the fuel and was thinking of an ats or afe intake manifold.

5x.018s are way over kill. you wont like either charger with the 74 turbine on that 12v. just go with a 62 for now, good setup for twins later.

Garrett

thanks for the info on those dvs ill deffinately be buying those and ive heard a 64/71 spools decent on a 12 valve too but what would be wrong with a 66 would it be really laggy even with alot of fuel? my trannys got an 1800 stall too idk if that would help any or not

I have a 66/71 on mine and it seems to spool fine, but I have never had anything else on the truck so I have nothing to compare to lol. Seems to spool better than the H2E on my 7.3 FWIW.

thanks for the info guys i really appreciate it the truck goes under the knife in a month paint lift 37s and 18s and hopefully enough fuel and air for atleast over 500hp

If I was you i'd consider doing a s300g or s362 depending on if they are close in price and adding a s475 down the road for twins. I have a 62 right now and my plan is to add the 475 later on.

If you don't want to wait you could try the 64/71 and likely get what you want but with the fuel these delivery valves will allow a 180 pump to produce you may want the added air of the 475 primary down the road. $.02

I had no problem spooling my silverbullet and it came on hard on the street making it really fun to drive. (Even more fun with this A5k now which is getting replaced tonight lol) Im not a fan of the laser cuts but will prob try them one more time before its over. Currently running 191s. 5x14 is plenty big for what you want to do, but im kinda like you I like going big and growing into it instead of doing it over 3-4 times thats just me. I have 5x16s in now more then likely going to a 5x18 late in the year or early next year. Intake manifold I wouldnt worry about that right now, I put an afe bladrunner on mine and deleted the grid heater also. Its addicting so be ready and good luck with the build.

thats how I was with my truck I went from stock injectors to IIS dragon flows which are 5x.016 and then I added pius's msb1250 which is close in size to a A5k and when that turbo hit going into 2nd it would break the tires loose, it was alot fun, but this is my only vehicle and im doing more towing so now i have a 62/65/12 on the truck and im back to stock injectors for now.

thanks for the info guys and the reason i was thinking 5x.018s is i dont wanna have to buy injectors again because i know i will want more if i settled for 5 x.014s lol and im thinking about buying a htt pro street anybody know how they spool on the street on a 12v...........and i was thinking of doing twins down the road but it wouldnt be for awhile so im thinking about settling for a big single

5x.014's are quite a bit of fuel with a rack plug and 181's....
(street truck boys, don't go for the kill)
totally dependant on what u call streetable.... to me that is no smoke unless i want it.

5x.014's, a good set of DV's and a 64 and you'd be a happy guy i'm thinkin..... that is what i have brewing in the works anyway...

SDX3's, 180 pump, 181 dv's, 63/68/.85A/R and then a set of these SDX DV's down the road depending on how long it takes me to get bored of that combo

I can give you an easy recipe for 385 HP to the wheels. It's enough power to spin the tires in 1st, totally kill the tires in 2nd, and (mild-controlled) spin in 3rd gear till about 50 MPH.

160 pump
25* timing
Free overlow valve mods
Free AFC Mods + Remove Plate
$15 Rack Plug
$240 DDP Magic Delivery Valves, aka modified 024 DVs.
$100 Used 215 injectors from 96-98' 5 speed truck.
Stock HX35 with wastegate boost-line disabled, divided cross drilled, and wastegate passage opened up to 7/8".

thanks for the info man but i should already be around the 300 range bcuz i have 5x.012 injectors, afc mods, 0 plate, and the wastegate mods u stated. Plus a fully built tranny with billet shafts and an 1800 stall. Im looking to get around 600 hp hopefully when im done buying stuff for now but its prolly going to be hard having a lift and 37s. thanks again though for the info man

It seems like a lot of "West Coast" guys have had great luck with 64/71/14 S300 based turbos and 600+ HP on their 12 valves.

If I were you,
1. I'd pick up a 64mm S300 based turbo, maybe even try one of those fancy new 68mm turbine wheels instead of the tried and proven 71mm turbine wheels.
2. Buy some 191, 022, or DDP magic 024 delivery valves
3. 2095 Rack Plug
4. Bump the timing somewhere between 24* and 26*.
5. Install 4K springs and set them up fairly tight, at least 4 hard clicks
6. Modify the overflow spring for 40 psi fuel pressure and verify you have adequate fuel pressure at least 25 psi WOT, unless your lift pump is nearly new, you probably will start to run short on lift pump fuel pressure around 575 HP. So add a pusher fuel pump like a Holley Blue, or buy a new fuel system like an Air Dog or FASS.
7. Either overtorque your stock head bolts or spend $400+ on head studs. In my personal opinion, if your going to remove the head bolts to add studs, you should buy a new head gasket and start over fresh and possibly get the head machined for o-rings while it's off the motor.

yeah thanks man im probably going to do a setup like that but i was thinking of getting larger injectors too and maybe trying a 66
