Buyer beware of Steven koenke aka (steven_koenke)

I'm posting just to show my side of this story and get some thoughts on where to go from here I'm out about 2500$.

To start off with a little info so i traded steven koenke my 4000/8000 compound setup for his s475 with a stainless diesel 2nd gen kit. I was nice enough to send my kit to him so he could just swap in a weekend since his truck is his daily. Anyway he ships his setup fairly quick but FedEx had some trouble delivering it. So I had to go to FedEx to pick up the package. As I picked up the package and sigh for it the box had no visible damage. As I get home I open up the box and find the turbo has been bouncing around in this huge box with little to no packing around it. I pull it out and the turbine is wedge sideways in the exhaust housing. Upon further inspection I find the nut it goes to the vband clamp it holds the exhaust housing to the center section was only on a few threads. I texted Steven right away asking him if he left the nut loose. And he said he left it loose so it could move..... yes read the text! I have never seen this before but come to find out the threads were stripped out is my guess why he didn't tighten it. I also have never seen someone ship a turbo in the same box as all the other parts of the kit. Anyway he worked with me responding to all my text and he worked with FedEx on a claim. As he updated me on the status of what fedex was doing. I know he and FedEx need sometime to figure what was going to happen as it was damaged in transit. But having the nut loose was not FedEx fault it was all Steven at that point. As time went on I sent him a few texts on the status and always got some new excuse. I gave it weeks few weeks to sort out and wasn't pushy. At this point it had been 30days. I kinda got a little hostel with him as I felt it was just dragging on to long. He agreed to pay for the turbo to be rebuilt and pay for some of the damage parts. I agreed as I know he was not 100% responsible for the damage but was going to do the right thing. And then out of the blue he comes back at me that he's is not cover any of the damage to the turbo but will pay for the oil line it was smashed.

I'm kinda at a lost on how I proceed. I feel like he was in the wrong on leaving the nut on the clamp lose. Any thought?

All the text message from the whole deal.

Boy that's a good one.... "left the nut loose so it could rotate" wtf!??? Had the nut been tight there never would've been an issue.

Man that sucks. Hope yall can figure it out before having to go to court.
I was pretty close to buying the 72 he had for sale awhile back on dd. Kind of glad I didn't now..

Kind of unrelated to this buyer or seller but I just got some injectors delivered to me by FedEx. They were wrapped pretty good in a bunch of thick paper towel, wrapped individually and then all six were wrapped also. They were in a box packed tightly with styrofoam peanuts. FedEx treated them so roughly a few of the tips had actually perforated the thick towels and all the way out the thick cardboard box. FedEx must play football with the packages or something. I couldn't imagine how rough they had to be with them to make that happen. Anyway, just a thought before you ship anything with FedEx.

Never use papertowel for packing, for chrissakes!!!

Just spit-balling a possibility----the turbo could've already been damaged, so it was sent the way it was hoping the shipping company would pay the claim when you noticed the damage, then you'd get a new turbo and nobody's the wiser. Happens all the time.

Thing is, FedEx probably wouldn't have paid the claim because the item was not packed properly in the first place. Kind of a Catch 22 b/c shipping companies have gotten tired of paying false claims. I hope you're able to recover your money or get the parts repaired.

Just to be clear, I didn't pack the injectors. That's how I received them. But in my opinion FedEx had to be pretty rough with the package to get them to come through the towels and the relatively thick, new box. Again, this is just my recent experience with FedEx and has really nothing to do with the OP or the seller. Just info so people know to package their stuff as though they are expecting it to be treated rather roughly.

This is becoming the norm here. Chit transactions and lying.

OP if you cannot get this resolved get at me. I have some new take out borg 83mm turbine wheels. I can get you all squared away without pulling your pants down.

I take it that when I read "$100 damage fee" in the text that the packaged up $2500 turbo kit that he wanted $2700 for originally was only insured for $100? If someone ain't
go no mo sense than dat.....jesus.... :bang

I don't do a lot of trading and shipping, but when I do, I take pictures of every step. The product, the wrapping, every layer of wrapping, the box, everything. Then I insure it for the NEW price. When you have a claim, it won't get denied because you wrapped a transmission in used napkins. $.02

If that is a fact then this thing is a wrap. We have had enough trouble getting insurance money when we insure it for the actual value of the package with an invoice to prove the worth, and $30 in packing materials on each turbo. Let alone a case where no packing was used, no proof of current value, and insured at the bare minimum.

Again did the right thing buy one fast cr I owe him a few more bucks because I told him I'd cover damage. Couldn't afford to dish out 1500$ but will cover the damage. Thanks to those of u that realize I'm not rly scamming anyone. 85% pump was sold and buyer is happy with it just haven't had time to change the listing on Craig's list. I understand the concern but it's all good.
