Product of a hard launch and loose chain the last hook of the year in my 2.5 truck :bang Intermediate shaft broke killing the case and basically everything else. LOL Anyone know if there is anything better to put in the '90s 9.25s? I'm not sure if a fleece shaft would fit and i run a lincoln locker anyway so id like to keep my CAD. Thoughts on cryoing the shafts and slider?

I'm running an ARB locker with the Fleece TufShafts and RCV Ultimate CV Axles and I really like the setup! I have dirt dragged with it and did some rock crawling dirt racing with it while covering an ECORS event and it worked great!!! Plus I can air my tires back up from the compressor when I'm done!

It is written up in the current issue of Diesel World magazine (April 2015).

I would think it would be a very good setup for sled pulling too, but I am not sure if the 90s 9.25 IFS is the same as the one in the '01-'10 GM trucks.

Thats the problem, the gears are the same, the case is different, and as for everything else your guess is as good as mine

You're going to have to find engineering drawings or get the two side by side and take some measurements yourself. It very well could be the same unit.

Whats different about the case? From the picture you have it looks the same to me. I would call the guys from fleece and ask if you haven't already. I feel like somebody there could answer your question.

The mounting points are different locations, it has a indicator switch for when it's in gear and the case is not quite as heavy as the newer version I believe, I know I can't just bolt a newer one in anyway, I suspect it was a fluke it broke as it was. A bad shaft coupled with a driver that forgot how to drive for a night is what unquestionably broke it this time. I did have a conversation with tony burkhard last fall about it and I'm leaning towards replacing it with a 10.5 or 11.5 custom center IF I toast it again. That being said he has a stock 9.25 in his 3.0..... LOL

I was thinking about that, but then that might give you fits with the 1 ton drivetrain rule.

Still a 1 ton drivetrain, just a cut down flipped rear end. I don't see an issue but then again I've heard b!!ching over less LOL

If you are going to fab mounts anyhow and want to save money over running a custom IFS maybe you can adapt the newer 9.25 AAM IFS mounting points to your truck. or even graft the front clip/frame from a newer truck onto your chassis.

That is what I hope to do with my 90's Tahoe to convert it from 2WD to 4WD. I want to buy a high mileage donor 2500 HD and cut the hydroformed section of frame off both trucks and move the HD subframe and driveline over to my Tahoe making it 4WD and Duramax powered at the same time!!! I don't know if I'll ever have the time or money to do it, but I really want to if that counts for anything!!!

That's basically what I did on my puller, it was 2wd originally, split the frame at the factory seam under front of the cab and welded a 4x4 front half

The frames are too different to mix between a gmt400 and 800 though IMO
