No events in the South?

Emphasis on the word more LOL

We would love to put MORE in the south. But the fact is we are not seeing the truck #'s to support more races down south. I get more trucks for a local wed. night race here than for a planned race in the south. Now texas was a good turn out, so we are going back there this year. If you guys can pool the trucks together we will put on races where you guys want them.

Chuck, I know your hands are sometimes tied in which tracks are available and the cost of renting them. But, getting tracks that are more main stream and not so far off the beaten path IMO would help a lot. The Rock is literally in the middle of no where, Reynolds and Albany are the same and a long drive for anyone coming from the surrounding areas.

Here in the south "east"..... Atlanta dragway ( new owner...past forgotten ), SGMP, Lowes MSW to name a few would draw a lot more trucks and fans. Maybe instead of paying out to affiliate events.... that money could be applied towards the more expensive tracks.

I know this is something you guys already know and you're doing what you can with what you have. This is my opinion on what I think would get more trucks.

Maybe a poll to determine how many would show to a particular track might help ??

Nothing wrong with the Rock, your truck was broke anyway! It was close for the guys that showed up! If I made it closer to Atlanta, they wouldnt show up, can't satisfy everyone. Great crowd, good company and everyone had fun!

Realistically, every race we have held over the three years in the south has had low attendance compared to other parts of the country - PA, IN, TX, CA, UT, etc.

Still considering FL during winter months, obviously it has to make good business sense as to where to hold events so the attendance is there in order to help pay for the event since we historically rent the tracks at great expense.

Maybe need to look at LA or TN?

Not broke, just not ready to race. I wasn't trying to point out venues close to me either. Those were just some of the ( not so far off the beaten path tracks ). It was just a thought as to why the attendance could be low.

Yes please! :D No Problem Raceway a little South of New Orleans (Donaldsonville) and State Capitol Raceway in Baton Rouge are both really nice quarter mile tracks. Then there's also Gulfport Dragway just across the state line in Mississippi right by all the Gulf Coast casinos and stuff.

Just sayin'. :D

.

We aren't going anywhere near N.O. until the Saints go back to the Aints, cant stand hearing who deyers :cheer:no mo.....:hehe:

I agree! I went to The Rock and would again, but it is a haul and none of the other trucks in my area went. Had that been in Atlanta there would have been a decent contingent from SC there. Also the last NADM event that was held in Atlanta had a very nice turnout. I would bet that Charlotte would draw a good crowd as well. Just my $0.02 worth.

Guys, what you all are asking for is a race in your back yard. That's exactly what affiliate events are for.

You know, the ones Ty wants to do away with!!!!!

Its really quite simple, you want a big race, at a big venue, track down enough sponsor ship dollars to cover 50% and we'll look into it.

Odds are that will pretty much end it there, I suspect ........:)

Obviously, this is a touchy subject for you and Ron but, you've taken what I said all wrong. I've spoken with Ron in length about this subject and know very well where you guys stand.

The tracks I mention aren't necessarily in my back yard. They're just some of the bigger tracks in the southeast. I know very well what it takes to acquire them and it was only my suggestion to try for those areas in hopes of drawing bigger crowds of trucks and fans. Having races so far off the beaten path deters people IMHO.

Again, it seems the South has been tried and tried again for events with the same results. No doubt the faster trucks are in that area, along with some great guys! But throw in the large amount of purses we have paid in the past along with no street truck presence, it makes it tough to come back to areas where personal cliques play into who is going to show up.

Want someplace to race get the guys altogether and let us know when everyone decides to gel together. High paid purses didn't do it, large tracks didn't do it, small personal tracks didn't do it, well published events and race team features didn't do it, - other parts of the country has not had the problems of supporting the sport!

We are like any other business, you go where business is successful! We have been successful in other areas, not to say we won't keep trying in the South, the events will be placed carefully until a turnout makes it successful.

I was quite impressed with the sled pull in Rockingham that Straight Diesel held, lots of street trucks along with upper end trucks.

Just convince those boys to drag race!

Is TS not considered the south? What a hell of a turnout those guys have been doing for the past 10 years...

We are talking about a drag racing only event - TS is a combined event, which like ours, turnouts are very good!

A stand alone drag event where you rent the track all day for diesel racing only!

Nice plug though!

Well it seems all us south central guys can do is talk up Crandall and get a better turnout in hopes for more events. I understand a biz is a biz. I am sure most people would like you guys to keep having races not go broke with small turnouts. Maybe post up the event early and lets try to help out. How many forums do you guys post on?

We post on about 5 -6 different diesel forums. Most are listed on our site under NADMfriends on the right hand side.

Honestly that is why we started the affiliate program to help local groups promote small events in hopes that they will grow big! Tank has one this weekend (Bash on the Bayou)! This will be the second year we helped fund his event (along with many others). Great event that is growing every year!

Offered our help for the guys in Houston but didn't get any response for an affiliate event? Like to do more but sponsor's funds dictates what we can do on a yearly budget.

Most people don't know but a drag track rental and event can cost anywhere from $10,000 - $40,000 for the day depending on track, insurance, purses and personnel.

TS is a Outlaw event. NADM has no affiliation with that and has a different set of rules in place.

but dennis get tons of racers to show up every year. maybe somebody should take a look at how dennis is doing thing cause it seems to be working.

We had tons of racers show up in PA - combined event - again! It's no secret!

Over 88 racers in PA!

Again - drag race event alone by itself is the problem! Not enough support!

Crandall was an awesome turnout, I see nothing but good things there in the future.

Most of our events are scheduled 6 months or more in advance, are nationally advertised, and as far as which forums? All of them, I think!!

If you guys are a member of another forum and you dont see NADM events posted, feel free to post them or let us know, thanks.

but the TS outlaw race has not always been a combined event. it has grown in to that over the years.

buck and jess's race had a great turn out last year. the race in ATL has always been a big one.

the big question is way would racers stay home instead of coming out to a race? everybody wants a race to be close to the home town but they never show up.

How many people showed at the last NADM event at Commerce GA? From my view point the place was packed. I don't really understand where the low turnout comes from. Last year you moved that event to Reynolds GA which was far off the beaten path, and the turnout was much smaller. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but it doesn't make sense to me.

I went to PA last year because I happened to be close by visiting my mom. I will most likely make PA again this year for the same reason. I would just love to take a short day trip to Atlanta or Charlotte for a NADM event.

I will be going to Atlanta for another diesel organization event this year. I'll bet they have a great turnout there........
