Project "Mini el Camino"

Ok, we never got the Chevette nor the Pup diesels, but I've driven the Ford Ranger, Tempo and Escort diesels and liked them a lot. The Toyota and Datsun pickup diesels, as well as the S-10 were all painfully slow. We do have a local who imports from Europe, and he's brought in a few later Toyota Land Cruisers with the turbodiesel in them. They work really nice.

How the hell did I miss this??

Love the truck, the interior is gorgeous! I worked on one of these at the bodyshop like 8 years ago; went out to start is and it sounded weird. "Holy hell, this thing has a diesel!" It was love at first start:hehe:

I'd still love to get one, especially as clean as yours is

Anyone have any thoughts on a water/meth injection in place of an intercooler? I just have so little room to install anything neatly.

Hmmmm, looks like a plan. A good pressure-regulated system is in my future.

IF you need help let me know. I have and use parts from all companies but Aquamist, and that will change in a few days.

You were asking about using water meth instead of an intercooler, and posted that link to show you another example of no IC, with water meth, and a dyno graph to show results.

You will not have to refill youre intercooler every couple of days!!
I ran a Spearco intercooler for a 1.8T Jetta (Actually a Neuspeed kit). The intercooler fit between the radiator and the front support. I dont have any before and after numbers but it was a huge improvement on the butt dyno. I also dropped ~500 deg F off the EGT's. I was running a Rayjay at 25psi of boost.:drive:
I ran my rabbit truck on a dyno in Colorado intercooled 1.5l 98k mi and threw down 101HP and 152 TQ at the tires:rockwoot:.

I also played around with water meth (but kept my intercooler) and did not see much of an improvement...again this is just street driving no dyno runs. I had a gallon resovior and could drain it after a couple good pulls on some hills.
I got sick of filling it and S-canned the water meth idea.

I personally would never delete an intercooler....but thats me. Nearly all Diesel engines utilize some sort of intercooler/aftercooler. If you get a good intercooler (Spearco) The pressure drop is usually less than 1psi.

Here is some pictures of my old set-up. This was before water/meth.

Thanks for this guys. It really looks like I'll have to find room for an intercooler after all.
