sound deadening

Just doing this with a stock system will change things immensely. Some people will add a small 8" sub to a factory system and call it a day.

It is some of the best money you can spend on your truck. It is time consuming to install. It is tedious. But worth every penny.

Thanks for that CHEMMINS. Really great info in theis thread!!

Well for everyone to have an idea....

Deadener - 120 sq ft = $484
CCF - I bought 10 yards I think, so $200 - Ensolite IUO Peel and Stick --- 1 yard (13.875 sq ft) - RAAMaudio Inc.
MLV - 135 sq ft roll - $285 - http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/products/mlv
Butyl Rope - I used 2 rolls - $17.50 - http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/products/ebr

And I used the heavy duty velcro to hang the mlv. - Bought 2 -10 packs $24 - http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/products/vel

Well that's gonna hurt on my Excursion. I'm guessing 1.5-2 times the materials a mega would take.

This.

Probably the best "sound deadening for dummies" thread I've seen.

Indeed great info.....Here's another dummy question tho, lol......Is there any order in which you apply these items? I guess if I'm gonna do it I want to do it right without having "Murphy" kick my A$$ and have to do it multiple times.

This order. He has it listed step by step or layer by layer if you will, basically...

Thanks SHughes....I was thinking it was but again just getting my feet wet on the topic!!!

No worries, I've not done it to this level myself yet either. But there have been other threads on the subject you may have missed if you're a little new here.

I have it on the inside of my hood of my Common Rail, I wasnt very impressed. I would stick with DynaMat or something similar.

hmm. I was thinking of trying it on the 56 when I get to that point. And then doing the treatments laid out here.

fatmat makes a 3/4" thick hood liner. butyl/foam mix.. i am thinking about it for the Buick when I have extra cash to blow.

Kinda new to posting, but have read and researched a lot. The topic of soundproofing comes up and I look at it and research some, then I go thinking about and get another performance toy for the truck and put it on the side, lol. But have the dinero to spend now and interested.

So what performance part are you going to get next?:lolly:

Damn good thread with great info! Thanks Chemmins :Cheer:

No problem. If anyone has any questions I am more than happy to help.

There are a couple companies who do the underhood treatments. Some you can get precut to match our hoods.

Ensolite has been used successfully in an outside environment as well. Very tough stuff.

Well now that ya mention it......I'm getting ready to buy a modded pump from Shane at Motorsport to put me around 7 to the ground, and thinking about a BOV only for insurance. I just got orders to Korea so my parents will have my truck and drive it some for the year I'm gone. I love them to death and trust them, but I don't want them surging and barking my turbo and ruining it before I get back lol.

But been thinking again now for this idea bc I am leaving and my parents will be driving her so save them some headaches. I got a 5x30" resonator going on soon but wanna do more.

Seems like I have to much time on my hads and always want more toys!!!!!!! :evil
