Living Under a Rock
I got lucky with my tractor... I wasn't looking to make a farm stock puller, but actually looking for something to drop a V8 in and have a little fun around the farm with. My dad talked me into building it into a puller. It had been sitting on a small hill in the back corner of a farmyard for 4 years or so with no engine in it (all the tin was on it, but there was a big hole where the engine belonged). So one day when I had a little money burning a hole in my pocket I stopped in and talked with the farmer. After a while I threw a number out there ($300) and the farmer didn't even flinch...
Anyways long story short:
Tractor - $300
Overhaul kit (the engine was scattered all over in his shed) - $500
Cam grind - $125
Head work - $200
Paint- $0 (left overs from our racecar)
Tires - $455 (that's actually been spent on three sets of tires)
Total - $1580
