Willys Tow Rig

This is kinda the direction I have moved to as of late.

I feel like this is getting closer to a more "acceptable" layout. I'm trying to figure out what icons or wording to cut into the heater "blend" knob... Also, should I put the Willys W-O symbol in the middle? Or another heater/ac vent? I already plan to have vents on the side of this center console kinda aimed into the footwells. I will probably be adding a USB port to the top right in that little empty space.

Very nice work. I like the compass too. I like the HVAC box. Much nicer and durable than anything else out there.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Working on a custom modernized wiper setup on my truck. TIG welded a metal sleeve to a flange then turned the plastic bushing down to fit inside of it.

Everything look fine as far as range and motion? I ended up a with a 12" blade, 10" arm center to center, with a 2-3/4" vertical offset while in the horizontal position.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Been busy dealing with stupid stuff like a second blown head gasket. Got the wipers worked 90% out. Should have picutures and video update of that next week. I ran some bigger copper tubing for the A/W intercooler water lines to clean them up a little bit. I'll get pics of that. Next project to tackle will be doing the center console.

Thanks for commenting. Helps motivate me to work on it.

I have two Willys Jeep trucks that I was restoring a long time ago. This makes me want to jump back into those, but with a 4bt as a power plant.

Good work!

So I haven't gotten a whole lot done with the Willys lately. I've been wanting to work on the fuel delivery system for a while now. Because of how shallow and wide my tank is, I have a huge problem sucking air whenever I get down to 1/2 a tank. So to help remedy the issue I made this bolt in sump out of stainless that also has a simple baffle network, better than nothing anyways... I also ran 1/2" ID Line from the tank to the modified mechanical lift pump running the comp cams upgraded spring.

When you have access to a laser and part of your building is rented out to a tire store, you can easily make your own gaskets....

Of course the tank is upside-down in this picture.

It's not the prettiest but overall I am pretty impressed with it. I have a little less than 1/4 tank right now and on the drive home I was really hard on it: quick braking, WOT pulls, drifting around corners... I removed the wood out of my bed and ran a clear return line so I could watch for bubbles. I only got aeration one time when I came around a left corner, oversteered, and then jerked back. I feel like I gained some mid/high range power too. I think the 1/2" line is helping to keep the fuel pressure around 55psi (where I have my Watts valve set on the return line). I didn't have my gauge hooked up but before when it was sucking out of a straw, I could get that gauge down to 12psi on a WOT pull.

Some videos from the Diesel drags last night.

I was really surprised to be hearing the tires screeching off the line with an 18psi boosted launch... I think they didn't really prep the track much because it was just diesel night. I'll tell you what, the sump and 1/2" line definitely made a difference; while my transmission is still shifting too late and it starts defueling (if I don't let of the pedal to get it to shift) It is for sure pulling harder in the 3600 to 4000 rpm range where before it would fall off REAL quick.

I did blow out at least 1 or 2 exhaust manifold gaskets on my last race running down a duramax with a 4 second head start. lol
