I've always wondered this, is it a sin to be running a p pump and lock up trans in a 1st gen? Lol, just a conversation starter

Its to easy some people like a challenge. How many 500 hp ppump trucks are out there id be willing to say 1000s. Not to many 500 hp ve trucks. I know what you mean tho i have a whole ppump setup sitting in my shop. Im just not ready to give up yet.

it's mostly because 1st gen owners tend to be broke-dicks who can't afford to build something like that, so they cling to the purity of their underpowered junk :o

I like how first gen guys get off when a VE truck breaks 450hp.

"DAYUM! That's some serious putt putt right there boys...!"

Because I like the idea of have a lot of power, a lot of rpm, and a really light weight (compared to newer trucks) truck. Nobody expects a first gen to be clicking off fast times at the strip and I really like that sleeper effect. I love being underestimated.

Austin (smokin ACE) has one of the most bad ass ve pumped first gens I've ever seen. I remember a few threads where everyone gave him shiit for staying with a VE but he's done some impressive stuff with that truck.

Really hit the nail on the head there. All I can hear is Dave Chapelle saying "coooollddd blooded" as Rick James. LOL

That he has. He just swapped manifolds and chargers. Thing is running better.

A ppumped 1st Gen is like a SBC 32 Ford. Nothing wrong with it but a lesser power, period correct motor is better to some.

I'd have to agree. I bought a 2002 new, a 2011 new and now I got a beater 93 and guess which one I'd rather drive. The "Brick". Wouldn't pull a wet string out of a cats a$$, drives like herding cattle, rides like it has square wheels, stops like it has 30,000 behind it and the tailgate won't open. Im not changing a thing.

Sums up every first gen I have been in/owned. Love it though.

Look at the op's avatar and his sig thats the first you liked so much at ts this year

I don't think people hate p pumped first gens. The ve is a challenge to make run and run well. Its a lost art that most people cant grasp. There for most are scared of it. How many people have drove a 450-500 hp p-pumped truck and then drove a 450-500hp ve truck? I bet you would say holy **** that ve runs!! Im a mechanical type of guy. Hell the DB2 pumps were cool back in the day. As time goes on technology and comfort goes up.
