1 piece DS info

price is great, it will be done saturday prolly. then i just gotta get some new shields fabbed up this week...gonna make them stronger this time so they dont bend.

I'm also in process of driveshaft build. Looking at 4", 0.096" wall thickness. One piece for reg cab, long bed, SRW.

Where do I find 1480 yoke ends for the shaft itself? Anyone with parts numbers or supplier? Will they match up with the stock slip-yoke on the transfer case (need to stay with stock 1410 due to costs)?

I've got the Dana 80, now with 1480 pinion yoke. Will go with the 1480 Spicer u-joints 5-803x and strap kit.

Thanks.

high angle drive line can get you anything you need.

sounds like you need a 1480 weld yoke and u-joint for the low end, and a 1410 weld yoke and u-joint for the t-case slip yoke

Haisleys has a 1480 slip joint for the 241DHD. The OD is incorrect, so they turn it down. It is plenty salty, but 1480 is a good route to go.

Thanks GB5.9.

Couldn't you do a 1480 weld yoke on both ends of the shaft or is there a difference in diameter of the 1480 u-joint from the 1410?

If I did it that way then the weak link would be the slip yoke for the transfer case but at least I would have the shaft built up as much as possible.

Paul

1480 is bigger than 1410 your slip yoke uses 1410 so that end of the shaft needs a 1410 weld yoke

1410 weld yoke for 4" O.D. tubing - .095 wall = spicer # 3-28-387

1480 weld yoke for 4" O.D. tubing - .095 wall = spicer # 3-28-627

1510 weld yoke for 4" O.D. tubing - .095 wall = spicer # 4-28-297

4" O.D. tubing - .095 wall x 74 inches long = spicer # 32-30-12-7400

Thanks Oilburner. You updated the post with the exact info I needed.

Looks like it will be a 1410 up front and 1480 on the rear. This thing may come together yet.

Paul.

dropped the slip yoke off today. he said if he has the 1480 yokes in stock it will be done today, if not then he will have it tomorrow for me.

66 1/4" CL to CL of the u-joints so its not really THAT long.

Anyone know what this part is out of? I can turn it down myself and save a buck or two.

The O.D. of the transfer case yoke will need to be 1.886
spice does'nt show a 1480 jointed yoke with 31/32I splines

A GM turbo 400 trans yoke has a o.d. of 1.885, and is 32-spline. trying to find info on the minor & major dimensions of the splines on both. biggest u-joint for a turbo 400 is a 1350 though

Strange engineering has a Chrome-moly & case hardened 32-spline yoke for a 1480 joint. 1.885 o.d. x 5.50 end of splines to center of u-joint. Retail of $ 295.00. It would work if the splines match up. (strange # u1684)
