i recently got everything i needed to start my next project. i bought the truck crashed but with a clean title. the frame was tweaked but i knew someone with a frame that was already boxed in, smoothed and bodydropped.

Motor & trans: 1st gen 91 motor and trans w/ 110k miles on it. ran great and shifted great when removed. i've got a HE351 60mm charger that i'll be running. some 60hp BD injectors. maybe a 230 hp BD VE pump, 3200gsk. BD converter. and transgo shift kit. 00 ford intercooler.

Suspension: full air ride. 4 link rear suspension. bags behind the axle. the truck will be set up to lay rocker once done.

enough yapping here are some pics.

little update. stopped at the shop for a little bit yesterday before i went fishing. finally got a new air ram for the hoist (****ing sweet btw) so i could drop the motor in. first thing i noticed is i'm not gonna be running AC :(. but thankfully it wont be that hard to fab up some motor mounts as it's pretty close to the factory mounts. if i can get some spare hands tomorrow i'm gonna try and drop the cab on to see where i'm at with the motor placement. it's a little tight on the ds but it'll work.

small update. i finally got to get back to work on this thing. i got the motor sitting in the chassis under it's own weight, made a trans mount and managed to get the cab over it. i've marked out what needs to be cut on the cab but i still need to pull the dash, tub the firewall and cut the trans tunnel so maybe i'll get to that this weekend. i broke my foot last sunday so it'll be fun gimping around. hopefully much more frequent updates now that i have some other projects done.

What are you going to do about the oil pan to ground clearance issue?

it actually clears by a good 3-4". i got the motor as high as i could, i actually might even have to cut the cowl a bit once the cab comes back down.

very cool, but man... I think I'd rather have an LQ9 vs. a VE 12v

way faster, WAY easier

but, like I said... VERY cool

thanks guys. i agree the gas job would be fun but it's been done before. at this is pretty unique and will the be the first one done.

never looked at a marine pan, what's the difference in height?

nothing too much. i cut the floor out the other day but i haven't had time to get back down to mess with it anymore. i'm going this weekend to get a hydro boost set up, brake pedal and new column. the hydro boost will give me a much more tire clearance and better brakes.

here are some newer pics

Just out of curiousity, how come you primed and painted the frame before you fit the motor/trans in there? I would have done that after you knew where everything was going to fit at the end in case you need to cut and weld... Just my $.02. Other than that, cool truck :D

ha yea kinda did that one bass ackwards lol. i thought i was going to be able to work with some of the stuff that was already there but hey plans change from day to day. it's not a big deal to re spray it anyway. also the frame was bare metal so i needed to get something on it.

progres...
better pics of the motor mount. once i get the cab back off i'll be able to finish them up.
