3126 cat n an ambulance chassis

its 700$ plus core I don't have...I don't wanna reinvent the pos..just drive it

Well unfortunately you’re never going to get what your looking for with the wrong parts. Friend had a 9100i International with M11 that had a viscous fan and it always ran hot. Dealer already had the parts list saved to convert to air fan since it was a common issue. Why any OEM would use one when the vehicle has air is beyond me.

if i could lock it for a bit and see id try that..but I don't see how I can....gonna run it til it gets hot..then get out and spin it and see if it is hard to turn...doing the tstats and coolant this weekend..pressure wash the rad from the rear as much as poss..but I can see thru it so I don't think that's the issue

If I’m not mistaken, the heat makes this spring expand which moves the lever attached to the end in the direction of the red arrow which engages the clutch. Can you tie the lever up with a zip-tie or some safety wire and see if it makes a difference?

Could you wire the blade up to the hub where it won’t slip and drive it? Or wrap enough baling twine around it to tie it up?

I'm gonna look at that this weekend when I do the coolant and tstats...another guy told me it has an adj lever on the front so that is a possibility...but I mean...if it isn't hard to turn when its good and hot...its crap...im gonna run the crap out of it and see if the fan turns easy

From the looks of the image for the new one it is adjustable. But, what I was getting at, if you push the lever as far as it will go and either disconnect the thermo spring or tie it at the full position, it will operate as if it was as hot as it will get and you won’t have to “run the crap out of it” just to see if the fan turns easy.

yeah yeah ...gotcha now..i was thinking the oil had to get thick inside it..but mayb its just a flow control with that lever setup...heck it could be stuck for that matter..good find brother..thanks

sooooooooooo..this muterf'r...on the thermostats..there is some kinda diverter or something. a plate on the bottom ..one has it..one don't...its gone inside the engine or the radiator..the truck is overheating so I was doing the flush..it was clean but once I put the cleaner in it made the coolant come out pretty nasty..flushed it twice 10 mins each time..looks pretty clear now..but that little round disc..idk whee it is..and its big enough to cause blockage...fml..trucks..I hate em

so if I flushed it with the stats out..that plate..if it is free inside the engine..is now on top of the radiator. which Is probly not an issue. long as it isn't inside the engine blocking off a passage in there ..but not knowing where it is..kinda sucks....

pretty sure the fan clutch is bad..it still free spins when the truck was at 170 idling ...same hot or cold....

And you will replace it and the next one will do the same in a short time. Viscous clutches are junk.

yea..but what else to do....cant even use the pos until it will pull at 65 ..even trying to sell it I still wanna use it til its gone...

that plate off the therm kinda worries me but..wtf ever is guess...

The new clutch should make a huge difference. I just replaced the one on the wife's powerstroke. It was so bad the ac would stop cooling whenever the truck was stopped for lack of airflow through the condenser.

mines good sitting still never over 150 160..but load it and go down the road..65 aint happening or it overheats til I slow down...but I never hear it and it turns pretty easy

thank you sir.....on my way to cat right now to get a therm gasket..of course they gave me the wrong ****..

look what I found..cant believe it....god mustve been watchin me on this one....

I bet it was covering that hole its sitting on top of...surely blocking flow somewhere

That 3/8” hose next to the thermostat in the first pic is your shunt line. Make sure that’s clear and not pinched anywhere. If there was a lot of junk in your cooling system when you flushed it, I’ve seen scale pieces block the hole of the fitting and not let the shunt line bleed off air in the system.

none of those numbers are close..the number off the hub is 17969-1..no name or mfr...

hope one of you guys can help cuz I aint finding anything...

Ok 2002 FL70 vin 1FVABSAK42HK06733 has an air fan. You type that in the Horton site it shows the hub options and the Borg Warner 17969-1 (Horton 9903000) is listed along with several different air style.

Top is what you have now, others are air. Middle is 2 speed and are great if you like plugging your radiator with dust since they run all the time.

I may have missed it but what model is that truck?
