3rd Gen Turbo Swap Write Up

How much lower numbers do guys tend to dyno with a mustang dyno vs a dynojet?

I can't seem to locate a local dynojet, just a couple of mustangs.

Tell me about it. LOL

I'm actually gonna try a boosted 3rd gear run next time I'm on the dyno just to see how it runs.

If I ever get a house, find an old 94 or 95 auto 12valve, and get a transmission put together, I'm going to push a third gen turbo on that just to see how much it will lay down. I've seen third gens as high as 527? or maybe 521 hp so who knows what 4-500 cc's of P pump rpm can make.
The 88mm outer diameter of the inducer is what really intrigues me on the HE351. I'll bet it could support 50psi no problem. For perspective, the HX35 on 98.5+ has a small 78mm compressor exducer.

EGT's vary based on load, boost, rpm, and outside air temps.

Last week I turned the Adrenaline up to 450 HP worth of fuel on the highway cruising at 60-65mph and went WOT till I hit about 90 mph. Outside temp was 111* on the overhead, forecast high of 108* so it was warm. EGT's got up to 1400 just as I was letting off.

In my opinion, that's a great balance between driving a small responsive/fun turbo for the street and still having the airflow to manage egt's. I'll bet a 1/4 mile run would result in 1600* or so but it's not that often on the street you get that much open space with a speed limit high enough to legally push it that long.

I think the biggest advantage this turbo has is the quick spoolup catches egt's before they become a problem and then let them rise faster than a bigger charger but since the rise started at a lower temp, you end up with similar useability.

iam looking at a turbo right now. iam just worried that its the right one. hes suposed to be looking at it and giveing me the numbers off of it so i can make sure. any other advice would b apreciated. also would it be worth putting it on the truck before i do injectors? i running the adrnaline also with the 3k tune and thinkig itd be fun with it until i can get the injectors in. thanks again for your help

If you look closely at the picture, you can see how you have to angle the cast elbow and stock 05' downpipe to make it clear the fire wall a little better.

The cast elbow is turned a little towards the passenger tire and the downpipe is turned a little towards the driver's side. The slight "S" shape allows the exhaust system to have more vertical fall before it hits the firewall so you can get some sort of a straight shot back the rest of the exhaust system.

Gotta love the he351!! I got one on my fully built neon and love it. Might put one on my truck cuz my cat turbo is acting up

Eh, they're ok. But its just not enough air flow. That's why I bought an S475 to drop in below mine. That should solve my air flow issues huh? LOL

I might have missed it on here, but Ive read that you enlarged the wastegate. What needs to be done in-order to do this?

Me or Big Blue? I've talked about it in some of my twins threads here recently. But Blue has plenty of threads and pictures on the subject that I don't. I'd highly suggest you do it if your planning on twins.

Its called a die or bur grinder...make the hole bigger...but not so big that the flapper don't cover it

I set mine up in a vise and used a 1-1/8 drill bit to enlarge it. The other one was done with a die grinder and it was a pain.
