I will do some talkin here Mon. or tuesday and report back wth some info hopefully.....I just cant see after spending all this money to let $500 or some small (compared to what was spent) amount let my truck turn into a large lawn ornament.

my thought exactly

Just the stock stuff would work, Dan just married a woman with tons of money.

No comment. My wife works very hard... She is a stay at home Mom though. I guess I must pay too much!
I just squeak when I walk, that and we eat lots of leftovers.

no kidding. My dad told me to marry for money not love that it will get you farther in life. I have boy number 2 due dec 22 so that tells you where i went wrong. just kidding!!!

What kind of valvetrain will these require. This 24v stuff makes my head hurt:bang:bang

I have different springs(hamilton), new locks and retainers will be used.
I just gave the head to the guy, and he is making it work.
He suggested the new valves so we can use a longer stem for more valve travel and not have to worry about coil bind.

Thats sounds like a good deal. Im sure it will be worth it when i get mine finished, but it sure has tested my patience with this motor. As soon as i get this issue ironed out, it is ready to go in the truck and start with all the safety stuff like fuel shutoffs and air kill.

I am still a long way off, last I checked the engine is still on the shop floor waiting for cam bearings. I think the head has been ported, but no valvetrain stuff has been ordered. I have snookered my wife into going around town looking for some sponsor help, so maybe that will help out.

Technically my sponser was my wife seeing as how she was a full time rural mail carrier and a registerd sleep tech (essentially a registerd nurse just in sleep medicine) but then i got carried away one night and she ended up pregnant and quiting the post office job which was okay since they reevaluted and made cutbacks to pay and hours anyway. Now she is going to be off work for three months so i will have no money till spring. LOL

Do you all know if the CR's going to need all the same stuff? I'm under the impression that the valvetrain is pretty similar in the two. I was just going to do a cam, pushrods, new tappets, fluidampr w/drill pin kit, and springs. I'm also only trying to turn 4,000 safely. But, 5,000rpm is coming for the CRs, oneday. And I like ya'll, only want to do this once.

Here is some more for you. I have talked to Bill heyen quite a bit since he does alot of work on my buddy Bryces truck and he runs all of EEP's setup including their custom bridges and he handed me about 4 or 5 of them that broke in half. He said he has never had stock bridges break and runs stock bridges now with everything else from EEP. More food for thought huh.

I was there next to the truck when it happened. Had just started it in the cold and it liked its fuel and snap, bang. Bad night.

When I am looking for products to come up with, I always start in areas with parts that break or fail or arear where ther is major improvements to be made. Except a failed rod, which broke the cam and ran the valves into the pistons. I have never seen a failed bridge. Even factoring in the 3 p-pump 24v engines that I have seen run away to whatever RPM they wanted. The aftermaket ones I have seen show no real performance gain as far as weight loss or longevity is concerned. If diesels in general reached higher rpm it would be of much greater importance. The thing to watch out for in my opinion is to make sure the seat pressure and installed height is even between the two valves. If not one valve opens higher putting a side load on the valves and opening one more than the other. I'm not saying a bridge couldn't break, just that I have never seen it or heard of it.

Zach what would be the method to cure this grind the tops of the valves so they are the same height? But over time wont that change since it will see hot cold hot cold? I will call u tomarrow to pick your brain.......
