7 blade HX40 flow chart, map, ect

I still want to see if we can get a 19cm 400 series housing to fit a 551 and see if it wakes it up any :Cheer:

On the 551 that I have the plate/vane moves all the way out against the turbine housing. In my way of thinking this would eliminate the possibility of a tighter housing improving spoolup. I could be wrong!
 
Yeah, I can't see it helping either, but if if can be bolted on and tried, I'd try it.

I think it's just too big to spool better than it does!

The way I see it is with a smaller housing the exhaust gasses have less room to expand and loose energy... Not to mention if going from 12cmwg to 16.5 even shows a difference in spool on the same turbo how can going from 31cm to 19cm not???

That was also my idea behind making a divider for my housing that goes in about 6 inches... It helps to keep the exhaust gasses from violently expanding right after the manifold and gives the front 3 a chance to get to the turbine without making it to the big part of the housing.

Right I see what you're saying, but the collar doesn't close down the entire housing... Even with the collar open halfway there's still a lot of dead space in the housing allowing the exhaust gasses to lose energy. Not to mention with the collar still part way closed it shrouds the turbine wheel... So without being able to open it further you're losing energy to the turbulence created by the turbine wheel being shrouded.

Maybe I'm just crazy, but that's how I see it.
 
Only one way to settle it...you find the part number to the housing??

Snedge is looking in his core pile for one... According to him there are no new parts available for the VGT turbos :doh: Or, maybe we can convince AsTross to find one for us. He's the one I got the part numbers from for a 19cm housing or that it even existed :poke:
 
Ive been thinking about that too. And waiting to see if carcrafter22 can get that design I drew out to work.


Oh it works, just need to do alot of tuning with it. I need to finish welding my new downpipe I made then bolt it up and go. I will report back soon with some more info.

Let me know how it does, I have a few ideas on some tweaks for it I'd like to bounce off you.
 
Anyone know if a HE351 cover is available that DOES NOT discharge like a 3rd gen?

More like a normal outlet style.

I' pretty sure you can fit a WH1E compressor housing with some slight work done to it (60mm wheel & V band housing)

I dont know if we have a WH1E core at the shop, if yes ill have a closer look to this option

Question for you, what size of top charger (secondary) are you planing to go with ?

How is the spool up with your setup ? What kind of power can you expect out of a setup like that ?
 
the pair flows about 110ppm so depending on the K31 in question, prolly.
 
How about this, can a "super 40" be hybrid'd with a HX35.?

Part numbers? Applications?
