I have a 97 2500 12 valve sclb that I would like to convert into a dually. It's 4x4 with a d70 up front and a d80 out rear.
What would I have to replace on the d70 to make the conversion for dually wheels? I don't wanna run a spacer
As far as the d80, will I have to do anything to it to run dualls or will they mount right up?
I'd greatfully appreciate the info. Thanks Chris

Your Ram must be some special home made edition if you have D70 in front !!

Officially Dodge used only D60 in front only

um, mine is 8800.... and just like everybody else's, and yours, it has a d60 in the front..

I was just about to get in your ass but then I was like hmm I might wanna go check this again. I'm sry about that, it's a d60.

I use single wheels in my dump truck (3500 dually) without spacers in front.

Only disadvantage is I have to carry two type of spare wheels , dually and single.

That's gay, so please don't do that.

As far as your question, dually rear axles are narrower than single rear wheel axles. Dually's also have longer wheel studs. You can mount up dual rear wheels on your rear axle if you change out the wheel studs but they will stick out farther than a standard dually. As far as front axle differences, someone else will have to answer.

Well I'm gonna be running 16.5" dually rims on the back and 16.5" h1 24 bolt 2 piece rims on the front with a set of 37" Goodyear military tires.

AsTroSS- yea I understand, that's gonna be the crappy part.

Big Blue24- I already knew about the studs but thanks for the axle width info.

I want my tires to stick out a little bit.

I use my phone to get on here, is there any way to put mobile pics on here?

x2 on the drw 80 being wider. i run one in my 2500. compared to my srw 70 it was 2" wider total

rileydsking- is that a stock 1 ton d80 drw or is that a 3/4 ton d80 With new longer studs set up for drw?

it is a stock drw 80. my truck was an auto so it had a 70 which broke and i had the drw80 at the shop.stock drw studs and drums still

Maybe cab and chassis dually axles are narrower, but the dual wheel dana 80 in pickups are about 3" wider than a single wheel axle.

Yep converted mine to a single and bolted up some wheels I had laying around and they stick out a good 2-3 inches further out, covered by my fender flares for now till I switch to my SRW

Well hey, take your 2 cents somewhere else... I asked about dana axles, not for you to put in your little comment just so you can look cool. Thanks!
