Well this weekend was the first test and tune to come up since I finished my half ton. Only engine mod is fuel plate removed and AFC slid full foward. Stock injectors and everything else. Running no tach, stock governor springs. Truck was running a consistent 14.2 at 97 mph, decided to let some air out of the tires it ran 14.0, let a few more psi out and a little longer burn out put me right in the 13s not bad for an old stock engine. Next weekend they are having diesel drags and I'm gonna leave it just like it is for this moment to bracket race because of the governor springs it only runs 97 mph every single time.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks! plan to stair step it up into a full drag truck but its fun to drive around town and get great fuel mileage!

Anyone know how to get videos off of facebook and put them on here?

Wow that's really consistent with a manual vb

Have you thought about swapping tires first, launching harder, and try to get that 60' down a little more?

yes probably gonna just buy some cheap 17x10 steel wheels and put et streets on them, but that will be after this weekend, payout is 1,000 for bracket class and that would just be cool to win it with the way it sits so I'll give it a go, leaving at 7 psi boost.

When are your shifts?

For a second, I forgot this was a stock truck lol, I was thinking "how does he shift that fast" LOL

Congrats, looks like you're having fun!!!

If you bolted-on a set of slicks, I'll bet it would drop your 60' time a full 3/10's with no other changes. Then you'd be knocking on 13.5's!!!

I believe so, I'm probably gonna buy some cheap 17x10 or 17x9 wheels to put some tires on for the strip, I was going to go ahead and put injectors and gsk and other things in but I think I'll wait till winter and just pull engine and trans back out. Build the trans and rebuild the engine and make it about 600 hp. The way it sets is reliable and very consistent so I think I'll just bracket race it for the rest of the year!

and THIS is why I love scsb trucks. Congrats man that is really cool to see!

I think people are slowly catching on that cutting weight is a lot cheaper than building a 1000hp engine reliably.

For 600hp, I wouldn't bother building the motor. Do something to keep the head glued down, get a set of cheap injectors, put a shift kit in the trans, and run it till something breaks (probably stock input shaft), then get into the tranny a little deeper. It's way more fun and guilt free to beat on a high mileage motor than something you've got thousands tied up with and countless hours... If you're looking for cheap power, we have an inexpensive injector line we call budget builder with several options in the $275 to $400 range.

I have a small diesel shop on the side and I'm a dealer for several companies. I wouldn't "build" the motor, just a rebuild kit, arp rod bolts, oring the block and stud it. Mainly because I'd like to really paint the motor and make it look nicer. It already has a "shift kit." I guess my main concern is the transmission holding, it has a fresh rebuild on it but its just stock. How much power do you think it will take before something breaks in a light pickup? My plan is to stair step the truck up into pro street class with a horse power bump every time it starts to feel "slow" and boring.

My family has always been around drag racing but I'm the only one that is in the diesel scene. I've always had 600 horse+ DD's and that was getting WAY out of hand as far as me tearing them up. So I traded for my 08 and did everything in my sig, bought this short bed to just rebuild and flip but decided it was the perfect donor for a play toy and so I tore it down, now it is what you see. It's the best decision I've ever made as far as a toy. I drive it all over God's creation, I'm also a realtor, I was showing houses in it the other day.

I see the video link isn't working, uploading it to youtube and will repost it.

Sweet truck! I love my half ton 2wd reg cab short box. Mine is a basically stock 24 valve but our time slips look a lot a like. I had drag radials. This slip doesnt show my best 60' time but it was my best pass of the weekend. best 60' was1.83. =http://s1377.photobucket.com/user/matthewelhardt/media/11714316_10207040570150886_613635781_n_zpspoavqlve.jpg.html]
