Best Streetable Cam

An aftermarket cam will help make more power through out your powerband but the difference isn't night & day. And will also aid in lighting the charger a lil sooner over the stock cam. But the other big factor especially for 12v's is the bolt on retain that comes on the Helix 2's and some other brands aswell. Cause the gears have been know to walk off the cam nose on 12v's alot being they are the hardest pump to drive over the 24v pumps. Here's a pic of a F1 bolt on retainer.

do big rpm's like say 5,000 and good pumps break them, i am still running 12mm pump but might upgrade to a 13mm

I ran a re grind all year at 5000 rpms with a 13mm Scheid pump. No issues here. And this thing was GROUND!! Hardly anything left of it haha! Thought for sure it would break. But I said heck with it and ran it anyway.

no problems huh, hard decision, what do you guys think of the superdragon flow injectors for the 12v, found a good deal on a set, they a good injector.

If you're worried about breaking the cam, don't make sudden throttle changes, ie, roll into the pedal, and don't just let off all of a sudden. From what I understand, normally a broken cam happens when you take the 50hp load off the gears all at once;)

I'm running a 550cc 5500RPM pump off my Helix 2, but I haven't beat on it very hard yet:D

sounds good to me, columbus is telling me my pump is putting about 650cc's out they said its maxed for a 12mm. Dont know alot about it but it fuels good. what about the super dragonflow industrial injection injectors anybody running them.

If Columbus says it puts out 650 then it does! I never ran Super Dragon flows for any period of time, the are a really big injector but surprisingly tame at light throttle, if it were me I'd opt for the regular Dragon Flows.

thanks for the info Jim, i think they are right on the pump, it fuels hard, i found a good deal on the super dragon flows thats why i was asking, anybody in need of a new set of marine 370's about 3,000 miles on them.

Gotta love CDS...My pump can go to 600cc, and I have another one I'm gonna swap on the 98 set at 450cc's...I think 550 is a little much for the goals of that truck now.

The bigger pump will go on the race rig, with the bigger chargers;)

I ran the Flows and they could spray enuff fuel for a 3.0" truck.

I'm gonna intercept it...you won't have enough charger to make any good use out of it;)

My Small charger will be bigger than your ONLY charger:hehe: :hehe:

i went ahead and bought the super dragon flows, the guy told me that they were special ordered with 12 holes is this correct, i cant wait to get them in gonna make good use of those twins. what do you guys feel is a better setup than my current hx40/16 over ht3b/27, are the schwitzers better or garretts. thanks for the help. i am just wanting a really stout street truck. i like my current setup but i am outgrowing them.

They are suppose to be a 10x16 with duel feeds internally!

Sweet baby Jesus thats a big injector!

For turbos I would say something along the lines of a SPS66 with a Big Brother/S480 Race under it.

Maybe an S465 with a HX80-82???

i still want some streetability, i was thinking of a built s300 over a s480 would that be good and pretty streetable, like i said i still play on the street with it and pull it also. i know i am wanting the best of both worlds. would the 66 over a big bro be streetable how big is the big bro.

I just took out a set of 6 x .016's. They haze alot at idle and light throttle. I could clean them up ok on the very top with my 64/71 over S480 twins. I have a cam and ported head. Adding 4 more holes is going to be really dirty and really hot. You may run into issues with local LE if you drive it on the street.
