What would be the best traction bars for a daily driver thatn never toes and will see street and dyno acouple times a yr

or make your own or pws makes some good ones.. the only downside to caltracks is you have to adjust them to make the work and ride ok..

I have had great luck with my Caltrac's on the 06 4wd daily driver and tow the race truck with it as well.

I've got a set that was made for my 1st gen/Dana 80 truck. Never used them. If you've got a 2nd gen they could probably be made to fit but someone else might be able to chime in about it. I was going to go with Caltracs but they don't make them for a first gen.

X2 on make your own. I talked to Seth and Micah about their truck and on their white truck the traction bars look a lot like the Glacier performance ladder bars but instead of having a shackle in front, they have a solid mount that hangs down. It would accomplish the same thing just with a more solid mount and slightly worse ride quality which doesn't matter on a race truck anyway. I built some for my second gen similar to the Glacier bars. It took a bit of work on the second gen rear axle but they work awesome. The truck hooks great, with zero change in ride quality.

Is the truck 2wd or 4x4? Getting a 2wd to hook well is a little more challenging than a 4x4. Simple straight bars to prevent axle wrap is fine for a moderate HP level 4x4. On a 2wd, a straight bar will prevent axle wrap, but it won't really help with traction other than making it smooth when blow the tires off instead of a wrapped axle that bounces and loads and unloads repeatedly.

Ive built about 6 sets for various 4x4's and 2wd's and havent had any issues with them. Just never could see spending all that money on such simple piece. Unless youre shooting for 9's lol

Another vote for CalTracs.

I've gotta look tomorrow to confirm, but I believe that Tom Collins has a set of CalTracs on his 1st gen.

Built my own just two days ago, they turned out good I think. And they work like a charm

For what your doing a home-made set would be fine, you can build a set for around $200

Cal Calvert Racing (maker of Cal Tracs), they will usually build them for special applications that are not listed. They did just that for my OBS Ford. It just takes me about 30 seconds to adjust them before or after a race.

Since you asked for the best id go with cal tracs as well, have a set on my truck and love them.

Anybody sled pull with the Caltracs?

If you built them strong enough to take the abuse, it would probably be viewed as cheating because they can be adjusted to increase "hitch-height" the more they are loaded going down the track.
