Blown Motor Need Help

I own a 96 one ton dually 5 speed cummins which i have just blown up. I was already in the process of building a pull truck but was not ready for this far of an upgrade.
:rockwoot:First off the stuff i have done- 5x22 industial injectors, 3in scheids turbo, 5k governer springs, full cut delivery valves, 60lbs valve springs, iron giant clutch, billet input shaft, traction bars, turned up 12mm pump 550cc.
Second i am pretty positive that i spun a bearing and so this motor will need a full rebuild and i am also going to put big cam cut pistons and chop head and port the head.

My question to you all is
1.what is the best rebuild
2. what pistons should i put in
3. what cam should i run
4. should i put girdle in
I am going for well over 1000 hp so that might give you an idea what i am looking for:woohoo:
Thanks for all the help:thankyou2:
This is what i want it and it already says that i am running a 12mm pump 550cc

no it was not the pump i never even had a chance to drive it but in the snow. i had just got the truck back together i had a leak oil that i did not see and it pumped out all the oil when i was driving it and knock knock. Like i said before i am planning on going to a 13mm but not until i get it running again

So i am just wondering how many 2.6 trucks out there are over a thousand horse. Maybe he could be the first. :hehe:

A really strong 2.6 truck will be at the 800hp I would think... I know of several in the upper 600's and I'm sure there are severale some in the upper 700's. A strong 2.8 truck might be pushing a grand, maybe alittle more or less, I'm no expert, but I don't think there is a turbo out there with a 2.6 inducer that that moves the air for 1000 hp. An s480 bushed to 2.6" might be the answer though LOL

i have a 3inch schields lighting turbo that i am going to bush down that is plan. i have a 2.8 bushing in it right now but will make a 2.6 before a pull season

i would much rather people get off the fact that i said anything about making the 1000hp on 2.6. i dont care if people think it is possible that was never my question from the start. i would like for people to imagine me making a full built 2.8 truck with unlimited resources and thats it . forget the 2.6 bull crap just wasting my time with these conversations

most associations dont allow a a charger to be bushed in the 2.6 i dont think. correct me if i am wrong.

also, i think the question was who made your pump that you have now?

1. I have not the slightest clue what the question is
2. Mahle 155, ceramic coat the top, teflon coat the skirts
3. That is an extremely touchy subject. I would recomend billet from the grinder of your choice.
4. If you want to spend the money its worth it. Dont get one of those useless stiffeners. Get a real girdle, Kenny's pulling parts and Gene's machine come to mind.

Also, you want a reputable shop to do your pump work. Tappets, springs, and push rods also need addressed. If over 4k rpm the pump needs the fins clipped, and some billet freeze plugs. Also change the rod bolts and have the entire bottom end balanced.

freaking awesome i have been waiting this hole time for this info.

1.thanks for the honesty
2.i believe that cam that i choose will require the pistons to be shaved so do you buy them already done based on the info from the cam or do you buy the piston then machine them yourself or machine shop
3.buddy told me about hamilton cams from down south ever heard of them and i have heard that some guys like regrind cams over brand new ones what is your opinion on this
4 i have very little experience on this issue so will have to base off what i read and from you all.
also you would do all that stuff just for a 12mm pump and how far will 550cc pump take you.

PS how come your truck will never run again

Pure Diesel Power Sells those pistons, cut to your specs and coated. You will need the depth from the cam grinder. Alternately you can have oe pistons modified.

Hamilton has a very good reputation on here, PM them. I will never run a regrind in anything, personal preference.

You can do all that and run a 12mm, a 13 will release its full potential. Well, a mod puller recently told me he is running 700cc on a sigma so.... The bigger plungers just give you faster injection speed, its not the volume, its the timing.

Um.....Im lazy.

I dont know about the 1000 horse part but for that goal you will need more than just the girdle. You would want one that ties in with the main studs. Piston can be stock but will need some big valve reliefs so it would be better to go with a industrial piston that has a low ring land to allow for that. Our industrial piston have like .250 thous reliefs cut in them for the cam. the 13 to 14 to 1 compression range also. The cam will more than likely be billet so that will require block work and possibly roller rockers instead of the flat tappet. The turbo will need to be atleast a 3.0 or 3.2 which us 2.6 guys do run but bushing it down will cut its nuts. A true 1000 horse motor will want the air.Basically you want a pro stock diesel truck in a street package. I dont know if this is what you are looking for but, i tried. LOL Tim

Depending on the org. You can have a 2.6 cover machined for your turbo, but I don't know of one that will allow a slip in bush. No difference really, just a technicality in the rules.

My buddy hit 720hp on the dyno and still Evan Davis was putting 20 and 30 ft on him. My other buddies engine dynoed in the mid 8's and he was still beating them by a good marjine. I would say there are some guys close to 900hp in the 2.6 class so a 1000hp aint that far off!
