Breaks while spooling

Lower the tq man on the smarty.

And how are you trying to build boost, Rolling into the throttle or just mashing it.

How do you know it's actually doing what it says (or thinks) it's doing, unless you're datalogging? There's tons of cases where the front panel controls say one thing and the actual command from the box (or stack) is something quite different!

This is where watching actual injector pulsewidth would be of great value. When you've got stacking and multiple foolers and calculations all running at the same time I think it should be more suprising that it even works in the first place. Especially when there's so much smoke and mirrors in the Dodge programmers.

Easy test is to take it off and see what changes.

good point

The CR engines are very sluggish when they're cold. Maybe, just maybe there is a sensor not registering proper temperature...I would plug a scan tool in and do some data logging. Look at engine temp and trans temp....

Mine waws doint the same thing for a little while then I turnt the shift defuel off and got rid of the lights in the cluster and it was alot easier to get it to spool. I was able to get off the line with very little smoke to. Try letting the truck walk out a couple feet with pressure on the brake pedal then when it gets more boost just drop foot off brake and more pressure on the right pedal. These two things made a world of difference the more the year went on. I also was doing this with a tight convertor. There was 3 of us doing the same thing all with good sized S400's with 2.6 covers.

i have a fairly tight convertor and had my fair share of driveshaft issues this year. i am running a .90 housing. that along with turning off the low end fuel on my bullydog and making a custom driveshaft has fixed my issues. i just wished i had a vid of my truck actually lighting the charger from a pull later this year. most would be suprised at how well it lit.

is the defuel turned on with the smarty i cant spool mine if the dash gear selector lights are on, they have to be turned off. i come out every time around 20 to 25 lbs of boost in my 03.

TM yea my gear selection lights are off.

Got the truck(driveshaft, shifter linkage and trans line) fixed yesterday afternoon. Took it out and tried a few things. In high gear can hold 3000rpm with brakes. In low without breaking I was able to get over 10lbs of boost.

This is what I did, and learned.
What I did different was watch the egt guage. When the egts would slow I would give it more pedal. I think I need more egts to spool higher and need to wait for it to get over 1000egts while spooling for it to light sooner.

if the egts are falling you are flooding it and loosing your heat to build boost. give it more time to spool mabye let it build some heat and slowly starting rolling into it

EGTs dont fall, I'm giving more pedal as the guage slows. Looks like if the egts are over 1000 when I leave it spools faster. Normally dont watch the egt guage while spooling when hoked to the sled. Maybe this is part of my problem, not enough egts when leaving.

While working on my spooling yesterday some how I burned up 4th gear. So monday back on the trailer to the tranny shop.

My trans took a crap last saterday when i was putting truck in the shop to start pulling the motor. Fixing to send back to goerend n hope he warranty it

Me neither. This it the 3rd time. Dont even use it unless on a 340'+ track. Drove down my road up to about 70mph no more than a mile or two turned around and when I came back it wouldnt shift to overdrive. Tried it again today same.

Wouldn't shift? Or when it shifted it just went to neutral?

Take that tst off! If it were an 03-04 I would say keep it but 04.5-07.5 do not like tst with smarty.

Just wont shift to forth. Get to 3rd and the rpm keep going no matter what you do wont go into overdrive. My transmission guy normally doesnt charge me to fix anything that goes wrong. Told me to drop it off and dont worry about it. He just charges me for the fluid. It hasnt been to him in well over a year. Tim Moye Transmissions. Does all Suncoast work.
