Broke Rings - Tear Down Pics

Yes, just jegs valve cover breather.

I'm antsy to get it together, but I'm playing the waiting game until thurs or fri. for my new triple disc converter. It'll give me plenty of time to make everything look good and fix all my leaks.

If anyone has a stock 24V exhaust manifold they want to sell, let me know.

Lavon

i would give you mine but i think bowersock took it when i sold him my old head

I have been BUSY! I got my truck running Saturday a week ago and have been working out bugs since. My TQ converter bolts hit the bellhousing at idle and after I had the bolts out and back in 3times I finally figured out the bolts were bottoming out in the new converter, so I got shorter bolts and took care of that.

The return line in the back of the head leaked, so I had to find new crush washers.

The new power steering pump I installed was leaking... just hadn't tightened the line enough.

The gasket between the hot pipe and the S475 was leaking bad, replaced the bolts with green locktite.

The front turbo drain started leaking, had to find a new hose before going to work on thurs.

Got home from work thurs. to my radiator drain plug leaking, So I ran to napa and got a new plug. along with new antifreeze.

I had transmission fluid leaking from the seal where the shifter apply lever goes through the case. So I changed that on Thurs night, along with fabbing a manual wastegate actuator.

Started tuning the twins after work on Fri eve and completely grenaded my Heavy Duty PDR intercooler boot @80psi.

I borrowed another intercooler boot and headed to the Drag strip. Dumb me got scared of blowing another boot so I turned the waste gate down and ran a 12.74@104mph with the top turbo making 50psi and the big one only making 20psi. My self fabricated wastegate acuator was sticking shut and I couldn't get the wastegate to open enough.

The second pass I killed 2nd gear in the transmission!

So now I'm refreshing the transmission this Sat, fixing the remaining leak ( bottom turbo drain gasket gives off about 3 drops everywhere I park.

I've been heading to work, coming home and wrenching until passed my bed time, waking up and going back to work all week! I've NEVER had so many brand new seals friggon leak!!!

I'll get it tuned in and to the track soon.

The Good is that the new triple disc Converter is absolutely amazing and the engine runs smoother then ever. I will say that when I had the twins tuned at 40psi from top and 40psi from the bottom, it felt incredible!!! I can't wait to get all the bugs worked out. I'll have more pics when I get on my own computer where my pics are.

Thanks for looking.

Atta Boy...get that big charger up where it needs to be making some real air.

Sounds like the twins worked out pretty good...I'm glad...but then again I could probably have the same setup and it would be a turd:hehe: :hehe:

I need to get back to the track with mine again before I give up on it!

I need to say to that the twins light 200-300rpms quicker then the hx40-b2 setup did, I know the cam is doing its job!

Here's more pictures, apparently the rest of the assembly pics are on the camera my brother took to Indiana for the week.

I used high temp ceramic coating for the manifold and turbo housings.

I hope my 2nd gear hangs in there for another few days. I have 700miles on the engine and everything seems smooth and good. Hit 80psi again today and it feels really strong!

i know who i am going to call in the fall when my engine blows!!

If its gonna blow this fall, then lets spray the crap out of it before we rebuild it :). I would have been spraying mine if I only knew!

lets try to get the truck to run without any hiccups first....:bang

i have a feeling that entails:

pulling head and replacing gasket
replacing vp44
sending turbo's to chris

hopefully i can do it all before the track closes...working 4 - 10 hr days makes for a 3 day weekend so i should have some time

I did the exact same thing, rebuild engine and trans and do it all after work and on weekends, I know exactly how you feel. Mine has been running a week today, and I can totally relate with all the leaks and blown seals I pulled on saturday and blew my intake plenum gasket clear out. Actually today is my first free night in two months, and only because I couldn't get the plenum gasket today. keep in there, it gets better... I think, i'll let you know. By the way it looks really good and probably runs great.

For retorquing the head after 1000miles, has the molly been diluted by oil or am I good to just reclick them? I see a little oil residue by my head gasket on the pass. side my #5 and 6.

PDR boots don't like 80psi, I personally thought they were more durable then that.
