I have been to Buda for the past 2 years and had a blast each year. I would like to thank every person that has ever had any part of organizing and contributing to the success of the event.
I think the biggest problem with diesel events is that groups are trying to organize a all-in-one event including sled pulling, dyno, and races without building a fan base that is large enough to support the event for years to come. Texas is a huge state and it is hard to get enthusiasts to travel hundreds of miles without a successful history of a event, and that is why Buda began to grow as large as it did because of all the great stories and the endless chatter of the event on all the forums. Lets face it everyone went to Buda only to dyno and have a few beers and watch some burnouts. The majority of People went to the diesel nationals in Baytown to run down the track, not to go dyno. The dyno was simply something to do in the spare time. When the Dyno was at nhrda in Ennis only a few trucks made pulls on the dyno and then the operators of the dyno said how chitty the Texas diesel crowd was. With that being said I simply think that keeping buda as a dyno only event would be the most beneficial after all that is was the Central Texas Dyno day was all about. I knew after the tool got arrested last year things would never be the same..
I would love to see Buda continue however I don't see it happening. I was looking forward to attending Buda this year because it would probably be the only event I could attend.Looks like I will just plan on competing in 2011.
Good luck and best wishes to all of those who try to organize or reorganize the Central Texas Dyno day.:Cheer:
