Alrighty, what we have here is a 1992 rcsb W250. It's getting a 12v form a Ford bus implanted into it. I have completely rebuilt the engine, it was already a reman so I just had it honed out and replaced the factory pistons with a fly cut marine style piston. I put a 220/240 Hamilton in it, had the gear welded on the cam. I also went ahead and had the head o-ringed, ported, polished, and they gave it a valve job. I got a three piece manifold for it also and it's ported a little. I'm having my pump built by a shop a few hours from the house, pretty good guys, Dale at Mountaineer Diesel. He's doing all the stuff I more than likely could have done but didn't really wanna jump into it at the moment and he's adding some shimmed 5k's in with that plus some cut DV's. Built my intake. Gave it a South bend DD, 3600lb. I'm going to run an HX35/HT3B compound setup, I know it's more of a 500hp towing setup but I figured I'd give it a try. It's a cheap setup so you're not out much if it doesn't work out. I'm running 5x.016's too. I think that's about it so far.

Compound piping, I know I'll need more I just picked this much up today.

Ohh, and all the head work and honing of the block gets credited by Enterprise engine. That is probably the only place I will ever go for anything that has to do with Cummins. They are a great place to deal with.

220/240 cam? ICL? I'm assuming you already had this cam? Well I hope... That amount of lift on that cam is rather large, look into a different charger/turbine setup to better fit that cam.

Yeah, I was going for a completely different approach on this build when I started and had this cam. It was going to be a single turbo drag race style setup rather a occasional driver and tow truck.

STOMP made 650rwhp on his 14mm VE with an HX40/BHT3B setup, so I wouldn't discount a decent amount of power with it. ;)

I was completely unaware of that JQ. Thanks a lot for that info, it's kind of reassuring. haha Alright, I know I will probably get bashed for this but someone teach me a little about cams and lift and what not. When we were getting this project together we were shooting for 1000hp and called a few people and was recommended that cam by a fella at Hamilton. I do not believe it was Zach. For what we were going to do it was probably an alright choice but now, idk. I'm not about to ditch a cam that I have not even started the engine on yet though. I'll run it for a while and see what happens. The worst I'll have to do is pull the cam, no biggie. But regardless I would love to learn a bit more about them. I planned on calling a few people tomorrow and talking to them about it. We'll see what happens.

Ohh and JQ, you happen to know the specs an the 3b that STOMP was running?

Not offhand....here is the dyno video, it did clean up pretty good when the boost hit, which makes me think a p-pumper will do more.

1,000rhwp on fuel is a tough nut to crack, usually means 90-100psi on a 12v and a 90-ish mm turbo unless the airflow is really efficient. Anyhow, even with the turbos you have, I think that truck will haul the mail!

Edit: If you have a decent port job, the big cam won't hurt you.

Well I'm assuming you checked for PTV clearance? I'm not sure on the lifts on that cam but I would assume over .100 on valve depths. That's where I would start if your nt familiar with cams and motors.

I'm familiar with engine and all I just haven't read up on cams and learned much about them. They are pretty simple to understand if you know what's going on, I get the general idea, I just don't know the specifics.

JQ, I wasn't planning on making 1,000hp with 5x.016's and an HT3B, lol. I knew that compound setup and injectors were too small for that amount of power. I had different things planned before I purchased this compound setup. Now I have changed plans and am going for the 750hp route but will be happy with 650 (that's more than likely where I'll land, aside from any catastrophic failures, lmao).

Got my airdog mounted this evening, I wanna wait until my pump gets here to run the lines. I''m gonna call about my pump tomorrow and I'll probably order my return line hose from Source Automotive. Gotta have patience, getting parts gathered up takes forever.

tell me about it!!! im dying to put all my stuff in...but parts are still arriving and will be for a couple weeks yet....secret squirrel stuff ;)

That thing was a horse before, I can't wait to see what it's like after you get done with it! Just ordered my return line, guy at the pump shop wasn't there yet...

What you gonna do with the 4bt? Put it in something cool like a Scout or Wagoneer?

Dad's starting a concrete business and we need it to run his volumetric mixer.

Geeeezzzzz I should have got a giant tupper wear and put everything that came off this engine in there. I am missing one bolt and one return line banjo bolt. IF I had those I could get this thing cranked up, not turbos or coolant of course, just a test start. Still waiting on my HT3B, downside of free shipping on e-bay.

Got it started last night. Everything went perfect. Cranked it over for about thirty seconds getting fuel to the injectors, it fired off, we tightened a few of the lines, cranked for another split second and it took off. Perfect, then we tightened everything up, looked for leaks, everything was flawless. It idled so smooth and nice. It would flood itself with fuel if you gave it any more than half throttle since I don't have my turbos connected yet but it was great. It was super snappy and responsive.

I have one problem, when I started it, i just ran regular Rotella motor oil. I didn't add any zinc additive to it for the cam. I only ran for 3-5 minutes, if that. I'm ordering some zinc additive as we speak. There's not much I can do but add the zinc additive now and run it, should I worry or not? I should have thought about it first but I was kind of excited and got caught up in the moment.
